The Puglia/Molise region

Puglia is described as the heel on Italy's boot, it is bordered by two Seas the Adriatic to the East and the Ionion to the South. Little is known of this real Italy for tourists and as such you will truly experience the friendliness of its people and sample the organic richness of its home grown products.
Puglia is renowned for its regional wine, olives and pasta.Temperatures average in July and August at around 32 degrees and only a little less in June and September. April and May can be like warm summer days in the UK. We visited Puglia in October 2008 sporting shorts and t/shirts only to find locals in sweaters and coats - the locals must think the stranieri (foreigners) are mad!!
Google knowitall.com/weather/puglia for up to date weather information.
With sunshine most of the year and olive groves stretching along the coastline, it is tantalising to see the different seasons in play. You will never tire of the area for want of more places to visit and things to do.
We will provide you with a visitors guide to Puglia outlining all the tours and attractions you might like to visit; even setting out a daily schedule of tours to follow!! We really want you to enjoy the Trulli of Allberobello, the Caves near Lecce, the beauty of the "white City" of Ostuni, the Zoo Safari and adventure land, Waterpark, fantastic markets and shopping. We can tell you of our favourite beaches and restaurants so that you get the most from your holiday. The list is endless and with the aid of our villa guides and information pack, and the use of our pre-loaded sat nav, we promise you a unique Puglian experience......
The Brindisi / San Vito dei Normanni area
San Vito Dei Normanni, a town of 20,000 inhabitants, is only 10 minutes away. Here you will find the tranquillity of tree lined historical squares and a walled castle area where you can chill out for an early morning coffee, pick up fantastic fresh breads and pastries for breakfast. All your shopping requirements can be found in this town so you don't have to go far from the villa.
There are a number of good restaurants and takeaways and a great market day on Monday mornings. Only 10 minutes away is the Adriatic coastline made up of private sandy coves, the beautiful Nature Reserve of Torre Guaceto, Fabulous "Lidos" where sun loungers, parasols and restaurants await you and private stretches of beach and coves where you will find a scattering of ice cream bars, fish, meat, pasta and pizza restaurants ready to serve you.
Further afield we will give you directions to all the local attractions such as
Ostuni the "white Ciity you need to visit both day and night to truly appreciate the historic splendour of this ancient hidden city only 20 minutes away. Great market day Saturday mornings!! handbag and shoe heaven!
Martina Franca is only 20 minutes away with lots of lovely boutiques and is renowned for its famous music festival in July and early August.
Monopoli and Polignano a Mare are two unspoilt coastal cliff towns on the way to Bari. Your'll find lovely sandy coves and reasonably priced fish restaurants a definite for views and relaxation.
50 minutes takes you in the direction of Fasano and its picturesque hills and a must day out to the Zoo Safari and Funfairland. Great for the kids take a pic-nic and enjoy a fun packed day. 50 minutes away towards Taranto you will find a great waterpark adventure fun for young and old...
If you get the chance we recommend a visit to the famous town of Alberobello and its rustic trulli, dine in the cavernous restaurants there, a delight to experience but be warned it can be very busy during the day and is better to visit late afternoon approx 1 hr from San Vito.
In the opposite direction heading South where do we start... Lecce a hidden treasure rich in historic architecture an old city with so many beautiful churches, narrow streets and many curiosity shops. A market is held here on Fridays. Drive onto Castro see the fantastic hilside villlage with its own castle and then drive on down to its communal rock pool, caves and enjoy a boat trip. The coastal road from Castro to Leuca 22km takes you to the Southern most tip and there you will enjoy the "Scallina Monumentali". On your return trip stop at Nardo and Gallipoli see the Greek influence in the buildings- try the menu of the day in any of the restaurants you come across and you wont be dissappointed, the fish is wonderful!!.Don't worry we have all these trips ready for you to enjoy or just set up a place you want to visit on the Sat Nav, pack up the coolbags and our beach equipment provided for your comfort and enjoy a terrific holiday.

WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND -WILL BE BACK We stayed at Villa Katia-Rosa in July and had such a fabulous time. We always worry about air conditioning when the weather is so hot as we have to go in school holidays and this villa had air con throughout, but it was great to be able to leave the windows open for a natural breeze to waft in to the bedrooms when our kids were having their siestas in an afternoon you really do need the insect screens in the villa- the shutters allow you to snooze ( husband very appreciative-great beds!) even when the temperature is soaring outside. The pool was really luxurious we couldn't believe that we had it all to our self. It was great to have evening dips using the lights on the terraces and in the pool. We made good use of the pool and terrace areas for our evening barbeques. It really has home from home. DVD's, Playstation, Fims, Books, Games and Music were really welcomed. We added a few to your collection as a thank you. We used the Sat-Nav a great after thought, as we wouldn't have known about some of the places to visit. We loved going to the Zoo Safari and the theme park was really very cheap for a family day out. We visited the caves you recommended in Castro, with the cliffside pool and boat trip. The restaurants located overlooking the sea was such a georgeous setting. Great market days which we could have easily missed and found the restaurants suggested- loved Spillusi's antipasta's to die for I think I counted 16 dishes!! and so cheap; the Sat-Nav even took us to us to a local vineyard where we bought wine for next to nothing. The information in your villa folder really helped us organise our days. Puglia really is much cheaper than our trip in Tuscany last year. We love Italy and this is the real deal. We still l have loads to see and will take you advice about coming again out of season when the weather isn't so hot for touring the area properly. A charming villa, you have thought of everything and we will happily recommend to family and friends. |

Returning to the very same area of Puglia for the second year running, we were delighted with the villa and its excellent amenities. Unlike previous villa properties, superb shady areas were provided under the trees very close to the pool area. This provided us with a major benefit when a little shade from the wall to wall sunshine was called for! The owner's local agent, Michael, (from Northern Ireland) lived locally and was only a phone call away should we ever require his help or attention. He was always happy to provide us with full visitor information applicable to the area and had excellent personal contacts were they ever to be required. (Dentist/Doctor etc). An excellent fortnight's holiday and we would certainly recommend this villa. |

We did have a fabulous time the weather was hot everyday and the air-con and insect shutters a godsend. We made good use of the lovely pool we couldn't believe we had it all to ourselves-the kids loved evening dips while we barbeque'd as well as the in house entertainment. You really have thought about everything to help make the most of our stay. The Sat-Nav took us to the Zoo safari, the Caves at Castro (we loved the cliff pool and boat trip) which we wouldn't have found otherwise. Loved the market in San Vito on a Monday (go early before the heat kicks in). Would love to come back. Thanks Martin and Maureen it was our first experience of a villa holiday and we are now converted!!
