About the home

Villa Oleandre is a beautiful well appointed villa situated about 2 kms from San Vito dei Normanni with its Monday morning market. It is in a tranquil location offering plenty of opportunities for walking or cycling. San Vito offers anything you might need for day to day living as well as some lovely coffee shops and restaurants. It is well placed for visiting beautiful cities such as Ostuni (the White City), Alberobello (trulli town), Fasano zoo and theme park, Lecce with its beautiful buildings. Your holiday can be as busy or as relaxing as you like.

Torre Guaceto (about 20 minutes drive) is a lovely beach with white sand and crystal clear waters and is part of a nature reserve but there are plenty of other beaches nearby to try as well. The nearest airport is Brindisi (about 20 mins) and Bari is about 1 hour. We will be on hand to offer any assistance that you may need, to recommend restaurants or give driving directions.

The villa is very spacious and furnished in traditional style. There are 2 double bedrooms and 1 twin room with a sofa bed in the living room. The 2nd double room can have another single bed added. The villa is air conditioned. The kitchen is large with all modern amenities. The barbecue is gas fired and the outdoor dining area overlooks the pool which has romantic lighting for those late night swims. The villa is completely fenced. There are numerous fruit trees in the garden and you are welcome to pick whatever fruit is in season. There may also be vegetables in the garden which you are welcome to use. All linen and towels are provided.

With your own private pool and secluded sunbathing area you can top up your tan in comfort and privacy.. Comfortable sun loungers are provided. You also have the poolside shower room on hand. Away from the pool, when you've had your fill of sunbathing, there is a cool, shady patio area shaded by pine trees and a gazebo which is perfect for breakfast, elevenses, evening drinks - in fact any time. You can get some 'me' time with your book and a cool drink or 'togetherness' with a glass or two of local Puglian wine. Or why not relax in the hammock and get 40 winks!

4 bicycles are available for the cycling enthusiasts. Cycling in Puglia is easy because the area is quite flat.

Further details

The garden is completely fenced with an electric gate for the security of your family. A sat nav is available for you to use, free of charge, on payment of a 100 euro refundable deposit. Bicycles can be provided, if required.

Conditions

30% non refundable deposit to be paid at time of booking. The remaining 70% to be paid 8 weeks before arrival.

The Puglia/Molise region

Puglia is the heel of Italy's boot, with lovely hot summers and many beautiful beaches to explore, as well innumerable towns and cities such as Lecce, full of stunning architecture, Ostuni, a beautiful white city on a hill, Francavilla Fontana with its lovely castle, pretty Carovigno, the list is endless. The zoo safari at Fasano is about 45 mins away. Torre Guaceto on the Adriatic , a nature reserve with white sandy beach and clear blue sea. The beaches of the Tyrrhenian sea are not far away with Gallipoli being about 1 hr drive, Taranto also about 1hr. The fascinating town of Matera with its cave dwellings is a must. There are several water parks in the area. And of course, Italian food and wine at every turn! The atmosphere is relaxing and friendly.

The Brindisi / San Vito dei Normanni area

San Vito dei Normanni has a market every Monday morning where you can buy fresh local produce. In fact there is a market in a different town every day of the week! San Vito is very well placed for visiting so many other nearby towns, cities and beaches. In the summer there are often festivals in the town centres providing music, fun, street vendors, fireworks etc. Santa Sabina with its lively evening entertainment is a must. Ostuni has a very old historic centre with many winding pathways. Restaurants and coffee shops abound

You can fly RyanAir to Brindisi which is the nearest airport, and also to Bari which is about an hour away and a very easy drive. Alternatively Easyjet to Rome or Naples. Rome is about 5 hours drive and Naples approx 4 hours drive. And this year (2012) Easyjet are flying from Gatwick toBari.It's very easy to hire a car at any of the airports too.

“Well equipped, beautifully maintained and welcoming villa - fantastic.” Staying at Villa Oleandre quite by accident, we had the most lovely time. The villa is a gem both in terms of facilities, spacious rooms and comfort, large grounds to amble around in if you wished to get away for a while, plus the secluded decent sized pool which was made much use of by the whole family. Bikes were provided for the more energetic, the barbecue was a joy to work with and neighbour Antonio was most welcoming generously supplying home grown fruit and tomatoes on a regular basis, completely unprompted, I might add. The peace and quiet of the neighbourhood was delightful yet the nearby town of San Vito is less than 5 minutes by car, Owners Gerry and Angela were most helpful and welcoming and couldn't do enough to make sure our stay was a pleasant and relaxing experience in the most unobtrusive way. It was most appreciated. I would certainly recommend Villa Oleandre to anyone looking for any type of family holiday, be it relaxing by the pool or getting out and around the area. Access to motorways for Brindisi/Lecce or Bari are quick and easy. We would definitely return given the opportunity. Loved it.
