Step back in time in 'Maison des Roses' Farmhouse which is situated on the picturesque Charente/Limousin border. The property has been lovingly restored exposing all the original features in the property, and as the french locals often tell us 'It is truly MAGNIFIQUE'. Only a few minutes stroll into the pretty medieval village which has all the amenities needed for your holiday, but yet a 5 minute drive will take you to the nearest town of St. Junien, with its beautiful and historic buildings, restaurants and wonderful shops. 5 minutes drive to open air swimming pool with slide, jacuzzi, sauna. Plenty of activities close by such as Golfing, Fishing, Beach Lakes, Watersports, Horse Riding, Canoe/Kayaking, Forest Walks, Cycling.
The Farmhouse is spacious, airy and has a magnificent sweeping oak staircase leading up to the large master bedroom with kingsize bed, twin room and two bathrooms. Downstairs you will find the third double bedroom with its pretty picturesque window looking onto the garden. Leading off from the hallway with its stone flagged floor into the quaint fully equipped kitchen, from there you come into the large lounge/dining area with its granite stone fireplace with log burning stove.
The thick stone walls maintains a natural coolness in the summer months where you may wish to escape from the heat of the sun.
Enjoy your time dining alfresco in the peaceful garden with patio area, BBQ and patio furniture. Keep a look out for the deer that come to feed in the field along side the garden of the farmhouse.
The owner has developed an extensive information file which provides information on the Farmhouse along with details of all local amenities and activities available in the area to ensure you are able to make the most of your holiday.
Limoges Airport is a stress free 20 minute drive to the property.

Before booking you are encouraged to read carefully the Conditions of Rental. After confirming your dates with me I will email/post a booking form to you. Although we can accept provisional bookings via telephone or email, you then have one week to confirm your reservation by sending your signed and completed booking form plus a 25% non-refundable deposit
Refundable breakages deposit of £200 required on payment of final balance, to be refunded within two weeks after your departure (subject to satisfactory property inspection).
Balance of holiday is due 8 weeks prior to commencing your holiday.

The Poitou-Charente famous for its micro climate ensuring a high probability of hot sunny days during the summer, and enjoys almost as much sunshine as the south of France, but whatever you are looking for during your visit to South West France - peaceful lakes, rivers and woodland walks - leisure or action sports and activities - amazing architecture, historic buildings, museums and art galleries, pleasure flights from local airport near St. Junien - You will find something to satisfy everybody.
Limoges - 30 mins drive will get you to this City famous for its ceramics and lace. It has a Cathedral, Markets, Parks, Aquarium, Nightspots, Shops, Restaurants, Golf Course. Catch the Petit Train, tickets from the Office de Tourisme, for an hour of sightseeing through the centre of Limoges, well worth it.
Further Afield
Dordogne - 1 1/4 hrs drive to Brantome which is a beautiful place to visit. Stroll around the Abbaye de Brantome and Chateux which are close by.
Angouleme, the capital of the Charente and 11/4 hrs drive, is worth a visit for it's Romanesque architecture and excellent restaurants ,steeped in history. Explore the attractive boulevards and street side cafes.
Poitiers - 11/2 hrs drive - It has a theme park called Futurscope and is always great fun and very popular - with action rides, giant screen films, dancing robots...
Puy du Fou grand park - where time stands still -take a journey through 2000 years of history. You will see villages from different eras, gladiators still doing battle, Vikings launching attacks on fortified castles and jousting knights plus a 1900 market town and a 18th century village. In the summer, there are 28 evening/night shows with fireworks, digital projectors, computerised fountains, thousands of costumes and many more special effects.
Royan - 2 1/4 hrs It boasts beautiful sandy beaches and an excellent Zoo.
La Rochelle - 2 1/2 hrs drive - A marine seaside town with its stylish shops and the well known Fort Boyard.
The Brigueuil area
Brigueuil is lovely village dating back to 10th Century where fortification walls are still in place and you will see fine examples of the medieval architecture. The farmhouse is only a few minutes stroll from the centre of the village which boasts of a Tabac, Auberge serving excellent food, Pharmacy, Co-op Mini Supermarket, Hairdressers, Library with internet access, Butchers, Boulangerie and Garage. There is also a mini outdoor market on some Saturday mornings.
7 minute drive will bring you to the ancient market town of St. Junien set on the River Vienne, where you can find a Leisure Centre with Indoor and Outdoor Swimming Pools and sunbeds, Professional 18 Hole Golf Course, Supermarkets, Train Station, Hospital, Cafes, Bars, Restaurants, Banks. There is a lovely quaint saturday morning market.
Etagnac is a tiny village and only 12 minute drive with so much to offer: the Château of Rochebrune open to the public with its mirror-like moat, its large swimming lake with sandy beach and bar/restaurant, areas for the keen fishermen, village bar/restaurant and hotel.
Beautiful Confolens town is a 15 minute drive, again set on the River Vienne with stunning views. You can hire a pedalo to take in the scenery. It has cobbled streets and fabulous architecture. In August for a week Confolens hosts the World Dance Festival and is well worth a visit as it attracts over 300,000 people. On the edge of this town is an animal park set in 11 acres.
15 minute drive is Oradour sur Glane which is a village that was destroyed on the 10 june 1944, during the second World War, by the Germans S.S. It's ruins have been conserved to show that it was victim of a nasty crime that killed 642 innocent civilians.
Rochechouart - A pretty little town 20 mins drive with its stunning Chateau, which has a museum of contemporary art and is a good place to start the Trail of Richard the Lionheart. It also has a small museum on Meteorite Phenomenon. There are bars and restaurants to while away your time in this relaxing little town.

Massignac - Aventure Parc Lacs De Haute Charente is 17 Miles away ideal for all the family. www.aventure-park.fr

BIKE HIRE: Bikes can be hired from a company that drops and collects to the property, ask owner for leaflet.
PAINTBALLING: Bussiere Galant - Paintballing centre is 23 miles from the cottage.
CANOE/KAYAKING
Exideuil - 20 mins drive - There are two courses which lasts from 2h30 - 3hrs or 6hrs.
Saint-Victurnien - 10 mins drive from the Cottage.

Our local airport is Limoges Bellgarde which is a very stress free easy 20 minutes drive to the property (directions will be sent 2 weeks prior to your holiday).

Brilliant location just half an hour from the airport in a lovely little village. Well equipped and comfortable cottage.safe parking and a lovely garden. Owner very friendly, accomodating, and helpful, providing loads of local info, but was not intrusive. |

This is a no smoking property but ashtrays are provided for you to smoke outside in the garden.
The property will be cleaned for your arrival and it is requested that you clean it on your departure, if however, you do not wish to waste your holiday cleaning then I can arrange for it to be cleaned at a cost of: 3 bed £40 or 5 bed £70
A booking contract will be sent to you at your request and on receipt of receiving your non-refundable 25% deposit within 5 days, I will then confirm by email that your holiday is booked.
There will be an additional charge of £20 for a dog.
Refundable security deposit of £200 to be included with your final balance of the holiday payable 8 weeks before arrival.
Payment by cheque or bank transfer in pounds sterling please, contact owner for details.
