This beautiful flat will comfortably sleep up to 4 adults, having a luxurious double bedroom and a sprung double sofabed. A further single futon mattress or a travel cot can be supplied to accommodate an additional child or baby for an extra £25. The apartment is located in Sussex Square, one of the most prestigious addresses in Brighton. The Square is Grade II listed and full of blue plaques of the great and the good who have chosen to live here over the years (including Thomas Kemp who built Brighton's famous Kemp Town). The most notable resident was Lewis Carroll who lived 5 doors down and wrote Alice in Wonderland here. The wonderful communal gardens are thought to have been an inspiration to him. The communal gardens are six acres of wonderland - full of secret paths, beautiful plants, picnic areas and a tunnel which takes you directly from the gardens to the seafront - there is even a children's play area with a slide and amazingly shaped trees to climb! The gardens are gated and private with access for residents only.

The flat itself has a beautiful black and white tiled patio to the front. Inside there is a hallway with sliding doors to the separate wc and a cloakroom/utility cupboard (housing the washing machine). Straight ahead is the door to the main living area. This room has a kitchen area with all you need to self cater in comfort. Tea, coffee, milk and a bottle of wine are all supplied for your convenience on arrival. There is a dining table which seats 2-6 (it's extendable on 2 sides or can be folded flat against the wall) and a cream leather sofa which pulls out into a second double bed if required. A TV, DVD player and wi-fi are all supplied along with a range of DVD's, books and games. The flat has wooden flooring throughout.

After the main living space there is a hallway with study (or dressing) area to the right. This has a desk, chair and a large wall mounted mirror. To the left is the door to the private patio. Straight ahead is the door to the beautiful bedroom which is equipped with a traditional iron bedstead, pocket sprung mattress and luxury bedding. There is a modern en-suite with walk-in double shower, heated towel rail, basin and wc. The door from the study area leads out onto the stunning private rear patio which provides a second lounge area in good weather where you are welcome to smoke if you wish. The rear wall of the patio is painted with a beautiful mural of Brighton Beach Huts by Emma Fielden, a local artist. This is directly opposite the bedroom window which gives a lovely picture to look out on. The patio is decked with little lights set onto the wood making it a beautiful and romantic space in the evenings. There is also an awning to provide shelter to smokers in the rain! A table, chairs are supplied outside.

On top of all of this you will have access to the famous Sussex Square communal gardens described above. Pets, including cats and small-medium sized dogs are welcome. The private patio is a safe enclosed space for them to go outside. Please let me know if you would like to bring your pet (there is an additional £35 cleaning fee for those bringing a cat or dog).

The flat is luxuriously equipped and decorated with quirky touches in keeping with it's unique location. If you are travelling with children and would like a night out I can arrange babysitting for you by my 17 year old daughter who has completed a local authority approved babysittting course and is experienced in looking after children of all ages including babies and children with special educational needs. The charge is £8 per hour.

Sussex Square is located on Brighton seafront. It is a quiet and secluded location but close enough to the city centre to be only a few minutes away from the centre of things - either by bus or car. The Marina is very close, just a short walk away. On street parking is available and a daily ticket can be purchased for £5 per day. The bus stop is just at the end of the square and frequent bus services run into town, the university and the station. There are plenty of shops nearby and several cafes including the beautiful and delicious 'Marmalade' which is just around the corner and which was recently featured in the magazine Elle Decoration (Dec 2013 edition).

If you are travelling by train I am happy to collect you from the station and take you back at the end of your stay for £10 each way. If you would like any food, flowers or additional wine supplied please let me know. I live nearby and am happy to help with recommendations for local restaurants etc if you wish.

The Brighton and Hove region

Brighton is a fun and fabulous city. There is some sort of festival almost every month from the famous Pride to the comedy festival in October, and the Arts and Fringe festival in May. It is full of interesting and independent bars shops and cafes and has the stunning and iconic seafront which includes the Marina, the vibrant Palace Pier, the ghostly West Pier, the Brighton Eye, the beautifully restored Victoria Bandstand and many other statues and monuments. There are a wide range of venues from the large Brighton Centre to the tiny Latest Music Bar with something for everyone. The Komedia is the most popular comedy venue in the South and has shows all through the week and weekend. It now house the Dukes cinema which has sofas where you can watch film in comfort taking food and drinks in with you.

There are many magnificent buildings in Brighton and none more so than the Brighton Pavilion which has the Brighton Museum in it's gardens. It's old stables were themselves so grand that they have been turned into the Brighton Dome - a great venue for concerts, ballet and plays.

If you would like to venture further up the beach to Hove we have a Beach Hut there that we rent out on a daily or weekly basis. Also in Hove is the lagoon where courses are run in sailing and windsurfing.

Brighton

Brighton is in a beautiful part of Sussex. Behind the city is the South Downs which are an area of outstanding natural beauty. It is worth a trip to take in the scenery on a peaceful walk and watch the sky full of paragliders and balloonists. There are many lovely walks detailed in local guidebooks and even more super pubs in which to finish the hike!

London is only a 40 minute train ride away from Brighton, so whether you are escaping from there or you need to be in easy reach, you are not far. Gatwick is a 40 minute drive.

Ferries cross to the continent from Newhaven on one side and Portsmouth on the other.

"Excellenyt pet friendly flat"

We stayed for a week with our 2 miniature dachshunds. The flat had recently been refurbished & so was spotlessly clean, with a very comfortable bed, a super shower & best of all was very very quiet! There is an enclosed park area within 100yards where we walked the dogs & the beach is also within walking distance. The owner was extremely helpful & made us feel really welcome when we arrived. We can thoroughly recommend this flat.
