The South East England / Sussex region

Brighton sits neatly between the sea and the South Downs National Park. If you want to flee the hustle and bustle of the city, it's an easy open top bus ride out to Devil's Dyke and Ditchling Beacon, not to mention the stunning cliffs of the Seven Sisters and Beachy Head, all of which are accessed by public transport or a good days ramble! The Sussex countryside north of the Downs is truly gorgeous and you'll find a million and one public footpaths and public houses!

Brighton and Hove / Brighton Seafront area

Brighton itself has a lot to offer. The biggest event in the town's calendar is the Brighton Festival, now in its 42nd year. The festival welcomes what some people describe as "an orgy of culture" to the city and lasts for three weeks in May. Hosting events ranging from street carnivals and pyrotechnic displays to open artists houses and talks by novelists, politicians and comedians alike - not to mention a plethora a live stage performances.

In October Brighton plays host to the Paramount Comedy festival which attracts artists from all corners of the globe.
Throughout the summer the city is visited by a wide range of people, here for sun and beach or for short city breaks.

How to get there

By Train - Arriving into Brighton station (50mins from London Bridge and London Victoria, 25 mins from Gatwick)
A taxi from the station is £5 and takes 5 mins or a 15 min walk staight down to the sea and then 10
mins west along the seafront.

By Bus - Arriving into Brighton Bus Terminal (2 hours 20mins from Lonvon Victoria Coach Station, 40 Mins from
Gatwick). A taxi is £5 and takes 5mins or a 15min walk west along the seafront.

By Car - The A23 arrives into Brighton from the north and the A27 runs east/west just north of the town. Follow
signs to the seafront and head west for one mile once you hit the sea. Pay & Display parking is
available on the street and on the seafront. However, traffic on Brighton Seafront is often slow and
parking is not guaranteed.

The Kings Hotel is at the bottom of Oriental Place and the Regency Bandstand opposite is a suitable landmark to look for.
