Windward
About the home
Windward is a beautiful holiday house in a super location near to the beach and just a few minutes by bus or taxi to Brighton town centre. Guests love this location! Upmarket and elegant with stunning scenery and a gorgeous walk down to the beach. The garden is south facing and great for sun bathing and the whole of the rear of the house and the terrace look right out to sea. From the beach, you can follow the sea path along to the Marina with its great restaurants and bars alongside the yachts. Walk next to the waves in the other direction and you get to the historic smugglers' village of Rottingdean which has some great pubs and is proving popular for Sunday lunches.
The house is welcoming and spacious with five very large bedrooms and three bathrooms. The living areas of the house are open-plan with a trendy sofa area with plenty of sofas flowing into the dining area. The kitchen is an absolute joy to sit in and chat and enjoy a coffee. It's well designed for large groups with plenty of bench seating and cushions and you get super sea views from here as well. With the patio doors open, you can wander in and out onto the terrace and this set-up provides a lot of space for groups. The bedrooms are all individually furnished with different colour schemes, most have sea views and they come equipped with hairdryers and plenty of cushions.
The house also has a large flat-screen TV with HD Freesat and a stereo with IPOD dock. There is parking for several cars on the driveway and also on the road. The south facing terrace has two large tables which seat everyone comfortably under sun umbrellas and there is also an electric sun awning for very hot days and a charcoal BBQ. The house has plenty of games, books, boogie boards, boules, DVDs etc plus a basketball hoop in the garden.
We've just put a state of the art Rangemaster 6 burner gas cooker into the kitchen and for those who like to cook, the kitchen is really well equipped for example with champagne buckets, a coffee machine and even a chocolate fondue set. There's a large fridge freezer as well as a second fridge so plenty of room for ice cubes and to chill drinks. The utility room is separate and has a Bosch dishwasher so all in all, the kitchen should have everything that a large group would need for a great stay.

The South East England / Sussex region

Brighton is the liveliest, most cosmopolitan resort in the UK situated on the south coast and with a splendid backdrop of the downs hills. The architecture is largely in a grand regency style and the centrepiece of town is the famous Brighton pavilion with its exotic, royal history.
Dotted around the region are old Sussex villages with their quintessential English pubs, stately homes such as Glyndebourne famous for its summer concerts and castles such as Arundel and Lewes.
There are numerous days out to be had from Brighton such as by train to London, by ferry over to France, up to Legoland, Thorpe Park or Drusillas for the children or for some antique shop browsing in Lewes.
The Brighton and Hove area
Windward is in a fabulously relaxing village yet only minutes into Brighton town centre. Brighton is a fascinating town which is extremely fashionable yet also quirky at the same time. The Lanes area is made up of cobbled streets with tiny 'tardis style' shops selling just about anything you can think of. The restaurant and cafe scene is on a par with London and culture just oozes from every theatre and gallery. At the same time, Brighton is a beach resort with people swimming and sunbathing and it also has the largest Marina in the UK.
You can walk down to the Marina from Windward along the coastal path and find plenty going on. There are great places to eat out next to the yachts, shopping, nightclubs, a casino, bowling, cinema and frequent organised events such as power-boat racing, comedy week etc.
As Windward is right on the seaside edge of the Downs, there are fabulous walks in all directions. It's a great combination - the liveliness of Brighton very close by but with a real feeling of tranquillity at the house.
