Enquire nowThe South East England / Sussex region
Within an hour's drive there are a lot of interesting places to visit - castles, gardens and stately homes. The South Downs(now a National Park) is not far away with lovely walks and views. Also there are many downland villages to visit within the South Downs. Lewes - the ancient County Town of East Sussex - is about 7 miles to the North East and is well worth a visit. To the West you can go to the lovely old town of Arundel with its famous castle and further on to Chichester the County town of West Sussex. To the East there is the Victorian seaside resort of Eastbourne to visit. The Bandstand there has live music there every night during the Summer months and on Wednesday evenings it is Classical night complete with fireworks.
The Brighton and Hove / Brunswick area
The cosmopolitan City of Brighton & Hove has much to offer with a huge range of restaurants, theatres, pubs and clubs available.
A visit to the Royal Pavilion is a must for every visitor. The Lanes and the North Laines are wonderful places to meander and indulge in retail therapy. If you want some outdoor activity, you can take a trip up to Devil's Dyke and walk along the South Downs or picnic as you watch the hang-gliders. Whatever you might choose to do in this area, it is more than likely you will find it... Brighton & Hove is certainly an excellent base for everything Sussex has to offer. Not for nothing is it called "Little London by the Sea".
May is Festival month, with cultural events to suit all tastes.

We paid £540 GBP, for three nights, instead of the advertised rate of £670 for seven nights. On this basis of a short stay, it was rather expensive. We usually rent holiday homes rather than B&B's, as it's easier with school aged children. Apart from over-inflated school holiday price, it was a clean and pretty house. All basic appliances and utilities provided. Location both quiet, but central. Very useful having two car parking spaces. Would only book again if staying for seven nights or more. |

We recently stayed at Ivy Cottage,And although it says unsuitable for children in the details we had no problem booking it and stayed for a week. My wife and I took our 3 children all under 5 and... more |

I love Brighton and have been there on holiday many times. I can say that my stay at Ivy Cottage was brilliant, not only is it in a great location but the cottage is well appointed with nearly everything you could wish for. We found the beds to be really comfy, there was lots of wardrobe space in both of the bedrooms. I especially liked the blackout blind in the master bedroom. The bathroom was well appointed and was impressed with there being bath sheets instead of the regular bath towels.Moving downstairs the sofas were comfy and the tv was of a good size. The dinning room has a good sized table which overlooks the rear patio area. The kitchen is a good size and found everything i needed to cook with, even down to there being kitchen foil in the draw. Its a short walk into the shopping area of bright with its wide range of stores, its an even shorter walk to the beach. My only negative points are the parking spaces are not very large, i have a small car and it was tight to fit in. The only other thing i would like to see improved would be the pillows on the beds they were thin and very bitty, this may be because i have expensive pillows at home! Will i be booking again? The answer is yes, the next time i look at booking my visit to Brighton Ivy cottage will be at the top of my list. |
