North Lodge, well what can you say it is the old lodge house to the Stanford estate and the last remaining building. Positioned in the centre of Brighton it is a country cottage or as some describe, Hansel and Gretel's cottage, located in the centre of the bustling city of Brighton. With a 1/3 of an acre of land, spiral staircase, Aga stove and a wood burner it is the perfect place to relax or have a party it is completely your choice. North Lodge has a great local pub, shops and local buses to take you further into town or out to the South Downs national park, either way there is something for everybody. Hope to see you soon.

Brighton and Hove

The local area is charming, there are plenty of local amenities with a great local pub with good food, open fires and a beer garden for the warmer weather. There is a 24 hr Tesco express for those last minute items and a 24 hr off licence. There are public tennis courts just around the corner and a cafe that looks out to the sea.

"Cosy, stylish country house in an amazing city"

North Lodge is perfect for larger groups who are looking for comfortable and stylish accommodation. The house is a little way out from the centre of town, which is great if you want a little more peace and quiet in the evenings. It is a detached property and is set back from the road, which adds just a little sense of seclusion. The interior is lovely – spacious open-plan kitchen and dining area with an Aga oven; compact but cosy living room with woodburner; decent-sized doubles rooms and a small twin room. It has everything you'd expect from a holiday rental: fast wifi, fully equipped kitchen, cable TV and lots of DVDs, games, good central heating...

The only negative perhaps is that there is only one bathroom, which for a house that can accommodate as many as 8 people may be problematic. Note that there is a handheld shower only (the freestanding bath tub is great though). It's also worth mentioning that the Aga can be challenging to use if cooking for a large group. It worked fine, but planning is required if you're aiming to serve a number of dishes at the same time. There's a little Aga tip book you can refer to for help!

All in all, a really pleasant stay, and the owner Ian was friendly and helpful. Definitely recommended!
