Enquire nowThe Isle of Wight region
Only a short ferry ride from England's south coast, the Isle of Wight is a brilliant holiday destination for all ages.
This little island, 23 miles by 13, enjoys some of sunniest and warmest weather the UK has to offer.
Despite its small size it boasts a huge variety of things to see and do, with a festival of some sort going on most weeks of the year. It is also the home of the world renowned Cowes Week sailing regatta, held in early August.
The island has several award winning beaches, miles of unspoilt and spectacular scenery.
More than half the island is an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with 500 miles of public footpaths and bridleways while almost 30 miles of its seashore is Heritage Coast.
The island has a rich historical heritage including Yarmouth and Carisbrooke Castles and Queen Victoria's royal residence of Osborne House.
The Brighstone Bay area
The village of Brighstone with The Three Bishops pub, a twelfth century church, a tea-room, post-office, newsagent and general store, a National Trust shop and museum, is only 15 minutes walk away. Brighstone is very attractive and boasts more thatched cottages than any other village.
Brighstone Bay beach is just two minute walk, where you can swim, surf, fish or just paddle. Less than 10 minutes by car brings you to Compton Bay, just voted one of Britains top 20 beaches! All along this stretch of coast you can find fossils and even dinosaur tracks!
The Needles with the attractions at Alum Bay, Blackgang Chine, Dinosaur Farm Museum, Dimbola Lodge photographic museum, Mottistone Manor, Chessil Pottery, St Catherine's Lighthouse, and the country town of Newport with a full range of shops and services, are all within 20 minutes drive.
In fact everything on the island is within 40 minutes by car, and there is a comprehensive bus service throughout the island.

Excellent service from the owners, Geoff was always prompt to respond and very helpful with travel tips to and from the IOW and during our stay. The property was immaculately clean on arrival and in a great location with seaviews and easy access to the coast path and beaches. Memory foam mattress in the en suite room was very comfortable, may now have to invest in one. Perfect location for anyone wanting an away from it location, however getting around the IOW is so easy that you are never far away from civilisation. We would find it hard to believe anyone not coming away relaxed from a stay in this property. Very lucky with the weather, the sun shone for 4 of the 5 days. Thank you from us all - 2 adults, 2 teenagers an OAP and our Golden Retriever!!! |
