Cottage | 2 bedrooms | sleeps 4
These two stone cottages stand quietly by a bridge on the edge of the small village of Powerstock, just 5 miles from the coast at West Bay. The cottages nestle at the foot of the ancient Eggardon Hill Fort and offer a very comfortable base from which to explore the deep valleys and hills of this unspoilt part of south west Dorset, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, 4 miles to the north east of Bridport . From the side of the garden there is immediate access onto a footpath, taking visitors across the owners' farmland, grazed by their beef and dairy cattle, as part of a beautiful five mile circular walk.
Completely refurbished by their owner with new, well-equipped fitted kitchens and bathrooms, Bridge Cottage and Spring Cottage are ideal for a couple or a small family.
Bridge and Spring Cottage can also be booked jointly with dining for 6 to 8 in either cottage's living area.

The cottage has its own west facing garden to the rear with pretty 'secret' section, and further large communal grassed area to the side of the cottages, with a picnic table beside the small River Mangerton - NB children must be supervised.
Powerstock itself is an attractive and very ancient village mentioned in The Doomesday Book; standing on a mound above the village its imposing church dates from Norman times and there are two pubs, offering good, Dorset produced food, within walking distance of the cottages. A spectacular stretch of the World Heritage, "Jurassic" coastline is within easy driving distance, encompassing Lyme Regis (famous 600' Quay, rock pools & fossils), Charmouth (good sandy beach), West Bay (sea fishing off the pier and beach), and Abbotsbury, (Chesil Beach, swannery & subtropical gardens). The county town of Dorchester is about 10 miles while more locally Bridport provides for more immediate shopping needs.
