1959 Vintage Bluebird
Caravan/Mobile Home | 1 bedrooms | sleeps 4
Located on our farm in beautiful West Dorset, our 1959 Vintage Bluebird caravan has been restored to its former glory whilst carefully retaining its charm. A true classic, this charming caravan offers a taste of days gone by whilst providing you with contemporary comfort.
The original sunny yellow kitchen is well-equipped with a Baby Belling electric cooker and a fridge.
The living area provides plenty of comfortable seating with a table for eating meals whilst enjoying views across the fields to the West where you may be treated to a fabulous sunset.
A fold away bed (4 ft x 6 ft) provides a cosy sleeping area at night and can be folded back during the day. Two additional beds (2 ft 3" x 6 ft) can be made up on the upholstered cushions in the seating area for children.
A television/dvd player is discreetly positioned in the living area.
Heating is provided by our biomass burner central heating (we burn hay from our farm) by a plinth heater and an additional dimplex electric fan heater.
Adjacent to the caravan is a shower wetroom with loo and basin, fitted with high quality fittings, to provide bathroom standards of the modern day! A terraced garden with a wooden bench and table to eat outdoors.
There is little light or noise pollution giving ideal conditions for stargazing and other countryside pursuits - walking, watching wildlife and enjoying the birdsong! You may be lucky enough to spot a barn owl hunting at dusk or a hare speeding across the fields!

The West Country region
The Jurassic coast is just 11 km away at Charmouth where the beach offers swimming and fossiling. The Heritage Centre at Charmouth gives a fascinating insight into the region's past, when dinosaurs roamed this area.
Bridport, 10km away, has been voted 3rd in the nation's favourite market towns. The bustling street markets take place on Wednesdays and Saturdays when you can also take a stroll around the many shops and cafes in the Vintage Quarter. Only 3km from the town is West Bay where the fishing boats are moored in the harbour. There are many fish and chip kiosks and a great outdoor play area for children of all ages.
Axminster, 16km, is the home to Hugh Fearnly-Whittingstall's famous River Cottage canteen and the charming town also holds a street market on Thursdays.
Lyme Regis, 14 km, is well known for it's connection with Mary Anning, the fossil collector, and for featuring as the dramatic backdrop to the film The French Lieutenant's Woman. A picturesque seaside town with many restaurants and cafes, many overlooking the sea of Lyme Bay or sit on the famous Cobb with fish and chips to watch the world go by.
Located in the beautiful Marshwood Vale between Bridport and Lyme Regis and close to beaches and the market towns of Bridport and Axminster. The Marshwood Vale is a peaceful haven to enjoy the countryside where wildlife abounds and there are dark starry skies by night.
Purcombe Farm is found along a lane leding to the highest point in Dorset, Pilsdon Pen, from where there are spectacular views across the county to Portland in the East. Guests come to enjoy the peace and quiet, the birdsong, looking out for deer, owls and hares which are often seen around the farm.
A perfect location for escaping to the peace and tranquility of the countryside.

"A quirky retreat with fabulous views!"
The Bluebird was a real find and a great change to a traditional B&B. Georgina was really welcoming and obviously has lots of local knowledge. The fresh eggs she left for us in the caravan were delicious. This is a beautiful area and the surrounding views are amazing. We would certainly go back!
Thank you, Jo, for your wonderful reveiw. I'm so glad that you had a good stay and hope to see you again soon. Georgina
