The Little village of Eype sits on the Jurassic Coast, with it's own beach it is ideal for those looking for a quiet retreat near the sea.
For those of you who followed the series, the scene of the murder in the TV blockbuster 'Broadchurch' was filmed in Eype!
Just one and a half miles outside the funky little town of Bridport, there are plenty of restaurants, arts events and shopping nearby. On Saturdays and Wednesdays the main streets of Bridport are filled with colourful market stalls selling everything from organic vegetables to vintage cloths.
If you are a walker there are wonderful cliff top walks to enjoy as well as the hills and meadows of the surrounding countryside.
Eype boasts a pub and a hotel and, in the summer months, a small shop selling basics.
A half hour's walk along the cliff path will take you to West Bay where there is a little harbour, shops and cafes to enjoy local produce.
A short drive Eastwards will take you to the Swannery and the Tropical Gardens at Abbotsbury, the bustling seaside town of Weymouth and the County Town of Dorchester. We are also near the home of Thomas Hardy, on of Dorset's famous figures.
Or you could just sit outside the Terrace at Railway Cottage and enjoy a glass of wine and a good book!

"if you're looking for an alternative form of accommodation without sacryficing comfort then do give this a try .en"
Although not the best time of year to be staying in this delightful area my enjoyment was enhanced by staying in this converted railway carriage .
The carriage was excellently equipped , comfortable bed and surrounded by railway memorabilia . the little wood burner made for a cosy evening with an alternative being a visit to the pub which was a 10 minute walk ,providing good food and local beers.
I would enthusiastically recommend a visit . Rose Marie the owner is a delight
