The West Country / Dorset region
Dorset's Jurassic Coast boasts dramatic cliffs, excellent for fossil-hunting, leading on to acres of National Trust land at Golden Cap, with the coastal path giving walkers access to miles of stunning coastal scenery and dramatic views. There are many beaches that are great for families close by, including West Bay, Seatown, Burton Bradstock, Charmouth and Lyme Regis. There is good sea fishing as well as coarse fishing on local rivers, also there is fishing available at Mangerton Mill which is a 5 min drive away. There are several golf courses locally, including West Bay, where sailing can also be enjoyed. As well as its wealth of natural beauty, the area boasts several interesting places to visit, including Eggardon Hill with one of the best hillforts in Dorset and the village of Abbotsbury. Here, on the shore enclosed by Chesil Bank, is the Swannery with hundreds of breeding swans also including tropical gardens and a play barn for children and there's also a children's riding centre at Elwell, Waytown, this is also a short 10 min car journey.

This cottage is much better in real life than in the pictures. Having rented 2 cottages in the same village my families cottages faired much better in the pictures but our stay ended up being of a much higher standard. The only thing letting the cottage down was the water pressure in the shower. It's very large and looks amazing but if you have long hair it does take a while to wash, though don't let this put you off.
Having dogs it was very refreshing to have a modern clean and fully equiped cottage available for our stay. Definately want to visit again. So much to do we couldn't fit it all in in a week.
One thing to note though is if you have a low car you would be better off parking on the main road. The lane is very steep and our cars did scrape the ground on the way out.

The cottage was very well presented and offered all the home comforts that you need when having a holiday. The welcome basket including Easter chocolates, a bottle of red wine and fresh eggs for our breakfast was an added bonus! The area was outstanding, very close to the beach and places to eat.

We travelled to Dorset with the idea of exploring the Jurassic coastline some more than we had done previously. The cottage location was well placed for that. You do need to have a car, although local supermarkets and Bridport town centre are only a short drive away. We travelled with a toddler who found the cottage very comfortable and loved sitting and watching the birds in the front garden from the window.
The cottage had all the facilities you would expect in the kitchen and lots of pots and pans, so we managed to cook lots of lovely dinners at home. The beds were very comfortable and the four poster bed was one the best beds I have slept in. The speakers hooked up to the ipod in the lounge/dining rooms was a nice feature; we listened to some tunes we hadn't heard in a long time ! Daisy cottage had been modernised, with tasteful decor and furniture but was old and had character and very thick walls!
The quiet residential area setting of the cottage was lovely, and all you could hear was the birds chirping. The wood burning stove in the lounge added to the cosy feeling, especially as it was chilly outside.
We used Daisy cottage to explore the coastline with daytrips from Beer in Devon to Weymouth in Dorset, and all the places in between.
