About the home

This period cottage is in the heart of Bridport which has a rich industrial heritage of net and ropemaking and only 1.5 miles from the beach at West Bay.

It is furnished to an attractive and comfortable standard and is light, bright and full of character. It is ideal to use as a base for a walking or beach holiday as there are many places of interest along the famous "Jurassic coast" and Chesil Beach. Explore the beautiful dorset countryside, numerous local beaches and enjoy the good locally produced food.

Fishing and sailing trips are available from West Bay harbour and there are exhibitions and events at Bridport's art centre with many festivals and outdoor events during the summer as well as Bridport's twice weekly market.

Local places of interest: Local pottery at Symondsbury, The Swannery at Abbotsbury and the donkey sanctuary at Sidmouth not forgetting The Cob at Lyme Regis (film location of the French Lieutenants Woman).

This is Thomas Hardy country with many associated places of interest in and around Dorchester.

Stable door to fully equipped kitchen-diner. Spiral staircase leading to first floor bedroom/sittingroom. Double aspect room with door to spacious bathroom with bath and shower over, w/c and washbasin.

This cottage has no outside space due to its central town location. Town car parks are a short walk from the property and very reasonable holiday permits are available from the local tourist information office, details can be provided on request. Close by in Buckydoo Square there are cafe and cake shops where you can sit outside and enjoy the surroundings.

All breakages and damage must be paid for.
Generally bookings must be paid in full by 4 weeks before the booking commences.

The West Country / Dorset region

.West Dorset has beautiful countryside with picturesque villages and market towns providing good local produce. The pace of life here is very gentle and allows for time to relax and enjoy pleasant company in interesting surroundings. Walking up Golden Cap is a favourite for the energetic or just perusing the many local markets is less demanding. Self catering can be a joy where there are so many farmers markets and local providers of good food.
Being on the Jurassic Coast provides a wealth of fossil finds with museaums at Lyme Regis and Charmouth.

The Bridport area

.Bridport has many useful shops and supermarkets as well as three butchers and three bakers shops. There are also greengrocers and a useful weekly market which also sells produce as well as Bric a brac and domestic items. Every second Saturday in the month there is a farmers market at the Arts Centre.
There are many pubs and restaurants which provide good food within a short walk of the heart of Bridport.

“The perfect cosy cottage for a relaxing holiday for 2” This was the perfect cosy cottage for a relaxing holiday. It was the just the right size for the 2 of us. Although the weather was bad for most of our stay, we enjoyed staying in and enjoying the accomodation. The cottage was well stocked with supplies such as bread and milk, as well as shower gel and shampoo, extra touches that I would not normally expect from self catering accomodation, but which made it extra special. The location was excellent, as the cottage was in the heart of Bridport, so pubs, shops and restaurants were all within a few minutes walk. Bridport is also a great location for exploring nearby areas such as Lyme Regis or Weymouth, We loved it so much that we have already booked to go again later on this year! Very reasonably priced as well. I would, and have, confidently recommended the cottage to friends and family.
