Bridlington

Resting on the cliff top looking over Thornwick bay and an endless sea view, this 1930s white-wood detached holiday cottage has visitors amazed by the magnificent, natural, raw beauty of the Yorkshire coastline. You can cook, dine or relax with a cup of tea looking out over miles of coastal scenery and wake up to a panoramic oceanic landscape from the upstairs bedroom. Decorated and equipped to a good standard, it is a perfect base for a fantastic holiday. Spectacular cliff walking from the door as you are only 2 miles from the renowned Royal Society for the Protection of Birds Sanctuary of Bempton. Alternatively, you can watch the puffins, razorbills, gannets and short-eared owls from the comfort of your living room – this is quite simply one of the best sea bird watching cottages in England. There are two golf courses in the area and the attractions of Bridlington are three miles away. Shop 1/2 mile, pub 750 yards and several restaurants within a mile.

Logs and coal are there for the fire if you need (there is more outside in the coal bunker). There are electric heaters which you can use. Towels and linen are there and the beds will be made up. Take binoculars if you have any as you can bird watch from the house.

The television works but if you don't want interference you have to turn your mobile phones off.

There are cards and jigsaws.

FOOD

There is a Co-op shop in Flamborough village. In Bridlington there is a big Morrisons and a Tescos.

The fish and chip shop in the village is pretty good. There is a good fish and chip shop in Sewerby which is a little village on the way back to Brid. The award winning fish and chip shop which was in the Observer is called 149 and is at 149 Marton Road, Bridlington (it has a web site) .The Rose and Crown in the village does nice pub food. If you go back down Marton Road out of the village there is a farm shop in Marton Farm Cottages that has a cafe which does nice food and a little farm shop that has nice veg, jam, meat milk and its own rape seed oil Wold Gold which is delicious.

If you go back along the road towards Flamborough villege there is a house where in the season they have a sign outside saying crabs and sea food. A fisherman has converted his garage into a fish shop and they dress their own crabs there which are delicious.

The pub on the cliffs by North Landing which looks like it might be a cafe is supposed to be good for a pint and a game of pool

WALKS

There is a little walk to Thornwick Bay beach which you can see from the house. The walk down is quite steep, or you can just walk to the cafe.

If you get onto the coastal path going north (or you can drive) you get to Bempton RSPB cliffs where there is a little shop and hopefully lots of birds.

Turn right along the cliff and you get to North Landing beach which is the nicest one to go swimming from. Go further on and there is a nice walk to the lighthouse.

You can follow this path all the way to Bridlington going through Danes Dyke which has loos and you can buy a drink at the kiosk.

If you don't want to walk quite so far you can drive to South Landing sculpture park where the village have created a short circular walk with some lovely views on a really easy path. You can sometimes see whales or dolphins from the cliffs apparently.
