Northern England region

The Yorkshire coastal towns of Whitby, Scarborough, Filey and Bridlington have been attracting visitors for hundreds of years who come to enjoy the miles of clean sandy beaches, pretty fishing ports and to walk along magnificent cliff top paths. The picturesque fishing port of Whitby is noted for its narrow streets and cliff top abbey which dominates the skyline and is well known as the place where Bram Stoker was inspired to write his famous novel ‘Dracular'. Further south lies Scarborough which offers two horseshoe bays both with stretches of golden sands and plenty of amusements and activities; which are ideal for the perfect family holiday. All along the coast visitors will be able to find a contrast of family friendly resorts and quieter little fishing ports which, all in all, offers something for everyone.

The cottage is located centrally for visiting Flamborough just 1 ½ miles east of the cottage and Bridlington 2 ½ miles west. Flamborough, with its beautiful beaches, lighthouse and a good selection of shops and pubs serving excellent home cooking is a great day out for all the family. Danes Dyke, just a couple of hundred yards down the road has some lovely woodland walks, picnic areas, café and is also ideal for bird watchers. Keen bird watchers can view the Gannets and Puffins located at the well-known RSPB cliff top sanctuary at Bempton just a couple of miles away. Bridlington with its beautiful harbour and two lovely sandy beaches on each side, where you can sail on ‘The Yorkshire Belle' pleasure cruiser that offers a 1-hour cruise along the coast. The children will love the fun fairs, donkey rides, building sandcastles and having great fun splashing around at Leisure World, with its wave pool and slides.
