A country property dating back in part to the 16th Century, Lavender Cottage is a charming three bedroom semi-detached cottage in the delightful rural village of Stogursey, near to the beautiful north Somerset coast. With its terracotta pantile roof, three foot cob walls, inglenook fireplace and extensive exposed oak beams in their natural state, Lavender Cottage is a superb example of an old country cottage that has retained its original character whilst offering all modern comforts to the guest.

With oil central-heating Lavender Cottage has the benefit of a modern comfortable living environment and also exposed wooden beams in most rooms, stripped back to their glorious original state, and an inglenook fireplace with a wood burning stove. There are 3 bedrooms, a 90 foot garden, and off-road parking for 2/3 cars at the end of the private gated drive.

A flagstone hallway greets the guest on arrival. This continues into the 32 foot kitchen dining room. The kitchen is a haven of modernity with a Rangemaster oven and hob, dishwasher and American–style fridge freezer.

The living room with its exposed wooden beams is the oldest part of the house believed to date back to 1550 and has an eight foot inglenook fireplace with a wood burner and plenty of room for log storage.

Bedroom 3 is on the ground floor and is just across the hall from the downstairs WC. Upstairs is the very comfortable Bedroom 2 with wardrobe and bedside cabinets, exposed oak beams and a beautiful view of the Quantock Hills. In the 20 x 16 foot Master Bedroom, there is a non-functioning fireplace, exposed oak beams and a newly-fitted en-suite with bath, shower, hand basin and WC. The family bathroom has a roll top claw foot bath and shower, hand basin and WC.

In the rear private garden, there are two patio areas that can be used for dining al fresco, and is stocked with shrubs, flowers and pots and baskets to make the country retreat complete.

Pets are permitted, but please let us know in advance. Stogursey is a wonderful dog-walking area, and cliff and coastal walks are close by, as are the stunning Quantock Hills with an abundance of routes for walking with or without animals. Many of the local pubs where you can get excellent food as well as the local scrumpy are dog-friendly. Nether Stowey, where the acclaimed poet Samuel Taylor Coleridge lived (you can visit his house) is two miles away. The beautiful coastal village of Kilve is just a ten minute drive away where there are extensive cliff walks. This rural idyll is just ten miles from J23 of the M5 so is very easy to get to, but is wonderfully calm and peaceful and is ideal for a get away from it all holiday.

All the big grocery stores deliver to the cottage so it is simple to organise for your groceries to arrive at the same time as yourselves!
