The Carthouse boasts a fully appointed kitchen with SMEG cooker, hood and hob, microwave oven, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, washing machine, iron and ironing board. Views west and northwards towards the Quantock hills offer stunning sunsets. With direct access to public footpaths and private parking the Carthouse is set away from the farm and therefore boasts a high degree of privacy.

The West Country region

The rugged Jurassic coast of Somerset, with their distinctive beaches are all close by. There are fossil beaches, sandy and cobble beaches as well as beaches suitable for surfing and body boarding. The bird nature reserve at Steart (part of the River Parret Trail) and many leisure activities such as two local golf courses (one private and one municipal), shooting, fishing (course, game and sea), riding, walking, swimming and sightseeing are all on the doorstep.

The history of the region is all around us. From the Jurassic, prehistoric and iron age, through the Romans, Anglo Saxons - the Glastonbury of King Arthur to Athelney and the marshes of King Alfred the Great - the Viking invasions at Watchet to the Domesday book.

Bridgwater

Ideally located west of Bridgwater at the foot of the Quantock HIlls (AONB). Ideal for mountain bikers (secure bicycle storage on site), walkers and bird watchers (Steart, the Bridgwater Bay Nature Reserve, is 15 mins drive away). There are two local fishing lakes (one within walking distance) and plenty of golf courses. Ten minutes from the A39 which links Bridgwater to Minehead.

Fiddington is located only 45 minutes from Bristol by car, ninety minutes to London and Birmingham by train and twenty minutes from Taunton.

Within half an hour's reach is the beauty of Exmoor, Minehead, the Brendon Hills and the Somerset levels. Bridgwater Town is approximately 15 minutes away by car and here you will find plenty of supermarkets and local shops.

Closer by there are a number of farm shops and further shopping facilities in the village of Nether Stowey. The area is full of delightful pubs all comfortable with children and some even happy for you to bring your dogs!
