The Heart of England / Peak District / Shropshire region
Shropshire delights with its variety. Whether exploring the castle, narrow streets or fine dining of Ludlow, strolling by the river in medieval Shrewsbury or discovering delightful Church Stretton, Bridgnorth or Bishops Castle, you can be assured of plenty to see and sample. Even the museums and attractions are wide ranging; from the industrial investigations to ecologically informative nature centres, and even the chance to step back in time and visit a working Victorian village.
Even the landscape alters, from the hills, heaths and deep wooded valleys of the Welsh borderlands to the magnificent, moorland scenery of the Long Mynd, while the beautiful Teme, Clu, Corve and Onny valleys host an amazing variety of wildlife. You can even take a walk on the wild side among the legendary Stiperstones, at Wenlock Edge and within the stunning Clee Hills.
Bridgnorth / Glazeley area
A red sandstone ridge separates the two distinct halves - the High Town and the Low Town - of the market town of Bridgnorth. The snaking streets and steps connect the halves, and these combined with the leaning castle ruins make this town a fascinating place for visitors to explore. The lively Saturday street market showcase the local produce, and the River Severn provides some picturesque walks for visitors to enjoy after a hearty lunch.
There are many visitor attractions to enjoy here and in the surrounding areas, including the Severn Valley Railway that runs a variety of steam and diesel engines through quaint country stations between Bridgnorth and Kidderminster. Historic houses, country parks, museums, Shropshire villages, the Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford and the 10 museums of Ironbridge Gorge are also within easy reach. Shrewsbury, Ludlow and Church Stretton are all destinations within touring distance that are well worth a visit.
