The Heart of England/Peak District

The house was built about 1460 and is timber framed, Grade 2 listed. Frog Mill Barn was built about 100 years later and forms part of the courtyard to the farm and is also Grade 2 listed. We are a small holding with Ryeland sheep, hens, ducks and 2 farmyard cats called Buster and Honey.

Our Westie, Harry, lives with us in the house. The area is surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt countryside. There are many local attractions as well as great local food and restaurants.

We have a flower festival and sponsored walks. There is a farmers market every Friday and on Saturday a much larger market which is all along the high street in Bridgnorth. There are several pubs with live music on at night and a cinema with a children's club offering discounted entrance.

Severn Valley Railway, which runs from Kidderminster to Bridgnorth, is an old fashioned steam railway serving food and drinks. There are brilliant trips for the children as there is West Midland Safari Park in Kidderminster. Thomas the Tank Engine also runs on special occasions. Bridgnorth holds a Music and Arts festival at the end of August. Weston Park is within easy reach for other events such as game shows and the V Festival. We also have a funicular railway which is England's oldest and steepest inland railway.

Ironbridge is a World Heritage Site and home to the Industrial Revolution. There is lots to do there even on a rainy day with all of it's museums such as Enigunity and Jackfield. Blists Hill is a small Victorian Town.

Much Wenloch is nearby too and worth a visit. It is the birthplace of the modern day Olympics.

There is excellent horse riding available nearby.

Ludlow and Church Stretton are an easy car drive away with places to eat, visit and shop.

"First class home from home"

We were two couples visiting Shropshire for the first time. Cottage first class, very well kitted out with two en suite bathrooms, that we wanted. Good kitchen, nice garden with outside seating. We were very comfortable.

We will be returning I the future, very many thanks to Anna who recommended local pubs for pub grub. Highly recommended.

Thank you for such a good review. We are both happy that you enjoyed your stay and perhaps you'll return to Shropshire one day?

"Excellent stay"

Had a wonderful peaceful and relaxing time in the countryside in excellent accommodation. Anna and Richard made us extremely welcome. Loved all the wildlife around the farm and pretty views. Would definitely stay again.

Thank you so much for such a wonderful review. The countryside is so special around here and peaceful. Hope to see you again soon? There are many events on locally including English Haydn Festival on 3 June, Much Wenloch Festival on 7 June, and RAF Cosford Airshow on 8 June, all within easy reach from us. Thanks again.

I'm sorry that I was not able to see much of you but work kept me busy. Perhaps next time? You have been very kind in your review and I am glad that Richard helped you feel so welcome. Thank you once again for such a lovely review.

"2nd visit and it just gets better and better"

2nd visit, having visited a similar time last year. Anna and Richard are very welcoming. Accommodation excellent! Very clean and facilities are exactly what's needed. We had a great Friday night meal prepared by Richard. As a group of friends, we wanted an activity weekend away from the hassles of everyday life. Did an excellent bike ride friday night before the meal. Up and about saturday and sunday for a superb couple of days activities that included quad bikes, archery, shooting and kayak's. Perfect location and a wonderful 2nd stay. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of doing a similar weekend with friends or family.

Thank you for staying with us again and enjoying it all the more. There is always something to do and right now there are concerts, Christmas lights and fairs soon. The countryside is always great for fresh air and walking. Then there's the log fire to come back to and a soak in the lovely rolled top bath whilst dinner cooks!

"Idyllic location, peaceful, restful, an absolute joy."

We found the accomodation to be absolutely superb - comfortable, of a very high standard and very clean. The facilities were excellent with every need catered for including a lovely meal prepared for us on our arrival which was a must after a very long journey. Also, a welcome pack was provided which covered us for all essential items. The location was perfect in that it was in easy reach of all the major attractions including the Ironbridge museums ( a must) and the wonderful surrounding historic towns. We just wish we had stayed longer - we miss the birds in the mornings and we would have liked to see so much more of Shropshire! This is one of the best & most fascinating breaks we've had!

Thank you for your kind response. Sorry about the bathroom window but we are restricted due to our Grading (Grade 2). It was particularly hot when you were here and I guess any air would help although there are 2 windows in the bedroom that open out wide to allow air to breeze through on adjacent walls. We are both so pleased that this did not affect your stay at Colemore Farm. It is a lovely place to stay with lots to do on the doorstep or a chance to chill and relax with the wonderful countryside around us. See you again sometime soon?

"Best holiday cottage we have stayed in."

we had a lovely time at colemore farm from start to finish. We only booked this property at the last minute and we was really pleased with it. Starting with the welcome pack of various local foods and the warm welcome from the owners ( who could not do enough to make your stay a good one without being obtrusive) The property is in a good location and I would especially recommend the ironbridge museums, one tip get an annual pass for the museums as it works out cheaper. The converted barn was very clean and the kitchen was well equipped. On the first day I noticed there wasn't a lemon squeezers and mentioned it to Anna and within 5 minutes she had got me one, now that is service for you! We will definitely be returning!!!!!

We are so happy that you enjoyed your stay at Frog Mill Barn. The lemon squeezer is now part of the kitchen utensils! You are right. There is always so much to do around here. This weekend there is the Rally in the Valley. Hope to see you soon.

"A delightfull retreat with many local places of historical interrest"

The care we received from the first contact was superb. The Barn cannot be faulted in any way; indeed a home from home. The owners cannot do enough to ensure a wonderful holiday. Being a working farm lends a further charm with sheep. chicken and a duck pond.
A car is absolutely essential to enjoy the area.
Unfortunately the hilly nature makes mobile phone calls very hit and miss.

Many thanks for your kind comments. It is always lovely to have guests stay. It is still hot now! Still at least there are shady walks in the woods! All the animals are well and the sheep have been sheared. Just in time!
