Home description
The apartment is on the top floor of an old colonial style house, situated right on a quiet, powder sand beach in Hastings. It consists of three bedrooms, two double, one with extra bed, if needed, and one single. All rooms have plenty of storage space. The two bathrooms have showers and toilets, and open on to a wide hallway.
There is a large and airy living room with plenty of sea breezes which opens out onto the verandah A large kitchen also opens on to the verandah on which you will find the dining room table which seats six. Several cane chairs and small coffee tables are scattered around the rest of the verandah and the best bit is the hammock and berbice chair which is the place to lie and view the huge almond tree which gives the apartment its name.

The Christ Church region
Hastings is conveniently situated on the south coast and approximately 2 Kms from the capital, Bridgetown. Within walking distance is the historic area, Garrison Savannah in the centre of which is the horse race track, which on many Saturdays becomes quite a spectacle as locals and visitors alike come out to watch the races. Our apartment is right on the beach and directly opposite the beautifully restored Barbados Pavilion. The beach is soft white sand and swimming is very safe swimming as the sea is reasonably calm. There are several restaurants a short stroll away and it is very easy and cheap to get around by public transport (e.g. you can take the bus all the way to Speightstown, or, in the opposite direction to the The Crane for a flat rate fare of US$1.00), even though renting a car may be your choice to explore at leisure. Five minutes drive away there is excellent night-life in the well known St .Laurence Gap area. Many types of water sports are available nearby; water-skiing, sailing, scuba diving, deep-sea fishing etc.
Hastings, Barbados area
Nearby are the historic area of Garrison Savannah, George Washington House, Barbados Museum, Bridgetown town centre, Pelican Craft Village, Rockley Golf Course, Graeme Hall Nature Sanctuary.
Bridgetown is the capital of Barbados and is the commercial and shopping centre of the island. You will find many excellent fine jewellery shops for those with healthy wallets but you can also find locally made jewellery at very reasonable prices in places like the Pelican Craft Centre which is worth a visit. Other duty-free items are available. After a hard day's shopping in Bridgetown the best place to relax is the Waterfront cafe overlooking the boats in the Carenage whilst sampling the local food and listening to some live music.
How to get there
Take Cab From the airport cost about US$23.00. The apartment is opposite the Barbados Pavilion.
