About the home

Absolutly stunning Renovated barn conversion with indoor heated swimming pool.Gite chataigne is situated 4km from the lively medieval town of Bressuire.Relax in quiet surroundings and when its too hot to sunbathe have a lovely cool swim or just lounge by the pool , or just watch the wildlife.

The gite sleeps 8 and has 2 double and 2 twin bedrooms,+ 2 further single beds (max 10+cot), a shower / wet room suitable for wheelchairs and a further bathroom with bath and separate shower. We now have internet access

we also have a games room with table tennis, table football and boules court.
fresh home grown produce available in season.
The pool is heated from March/april to december and because its indoors swimming is lovely all season ! (something you can't always do in an outdoor pool).
Central heating for winter breaks (extra charge).

Large open plan area with fully equipped kitchen and ,dining area with large table, and a comfortable lounge area to relax in.

The shower/ wet room, + 1 double and 1 twin bedroom are all on the same level with wide doorways suitable for wheelchairs
Books and DVDs for you to enjoy.
We have 2 extra single beds if required 1 bedroom can easily have 3 or 4 singles or a further bedroom can have a double bed with either single bed or cot ,at no extra cost !

Refundable damage deposit of £200 paid 8 weeks before returned within 2 weeks after subject to inspection. 25% unrefundable booking fee at time of booking,balance paid 8 weeks before booking date.

Bookings made less than 8 weeks before holiday then full fee is required.

Families with babies that require any equipment please discuss at time of booking.

HEATED 10MX4M INDOOR POOL

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region

The area has a micro climate and as the 2nd hottest area in france we have high temperatures in the summer and mild winters. There is plenty to do with horse riding, gokarting and the international fishing centre at Pescalis.

The coast with lots of activities and sandy beaches is 1hr 30 away. A visit to Puy du Fou theme park is a must, providing fun entertainment, a medieval fort and daily laser shows. The old port of La Rochelle is well worth exploring, to meander around the old streets or watch the world go by at one of the many water-side cafes and bars. Visit the ever popular Futuroscope interactive adventure park with 3D cinema screens and virtual reality rides – always a great day out.

The Loire valley with acres of vineyards and picturesque chateaux is about a 90 minute drive.

The Bressuire / Clazay area

Bressuire is a lively market town with plenty of shops, bars and restaurants in which to relax. There are several supermarkets (the nearest to the gite are Carrefour and LeClerc).
Situated in the heart of the town is the 11th century chateau that has beautiful grounds which are open to visitors. The chateau is the focus on Bastille Day (14th July ) with lots of activities during the day and a firework display in the evening. there is also the chataeu at st mesmin with fun events going throughout the summer.
L’eglise Notre Dame near the market place dates back to 1090 and is a good visit for those interested in the history of Bressuire.
The Bocapole centre is popular for activities including bowling. The nearby village of Clazay ( 1 min away ) is good for fresh croissants and baguettes from the boulangerie.
there is the Adventure park set in woodland, 2 Zoo's at Doue and Mervent , gokarting , A waterpark ,all less than a hour away and great days out with the Kids !!

Flights to Nantes, La Rochelle and Poitiers are within easy driving distance of the gite (about 1hr 30).

The ferry ports of Cherbourg , St Malo and le Harve, are approx 4-5 hrs drive.
