About the home

Set amongst Oaks, Acacias and Pines in the heart of the Poitou-Charentes countryside in the medieval market town of Bressuire lies a retreat for discerning holiday makers. A base from which to explore the region, take in the scenery and enjoy the numerous attractions all within one hours drive.

We are a small family run business in rural France which is the dream and reality of myself Robert and my wife Amanda to offer what we feel most people are looking for in a holiday - beautiful surroundings, friendly people and a warm family atmosphere. The chalet is on a campsite which is ideal for children to explore and for parents to be sure they are safe. We offer a more personal approach than that of larger complexes.

Every morning in high season you can place an order for freshly baked baguettes and croissants and I deliver them direct to your door the following morning. For further provisions there are supermarkets within a five minute drive and the town is a twenty minute walk around a beautiful lake. Our family run site is conveniently situated as a base from which to either explore this beautiful region of France or spend the day relaxing in a peaceful secluded haven.

Facilities

The chalet has two bedrooms, one with a double bed and the other with a bunk bed. There is also a sofa bed in the living area to convert to another double giving a total occupancy of six. The kitchen comes fully equipped with a fridge, freezer, oven, hob, sink and all necessary crockery and cutlery. The essential corkscrew is of course supplied !. There is a shower room with a wash hand basin and a separate toilet.
Outside you have a covered & decked verandah with table and chairs.

Non Refundable deposit of 100€ for each week booked required when making booking.
Balance paid on arrival.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region

Puy du Fou - 35 minutes
An experience not to be missed. The park takes you on a journey through French history by means of 8 spectacular shows.

Futuroscope - 60 minutes
A breathtaking and eye opening experience which celebrates film and the moving image with massive 3D cinemas, virtual reality simulator rides and the latest communication technology. It's big, different and includes some great rides plus plenty to engage inquisitive minds. An enjoyable day for adults and children.

Golf Courses
Situated at Cholet - 45 minutes and Parthenay 35 minutes.



Cycle Routes
If you like cycling then why not try the "voie verte". This is a purpose built cycle route from Bressuire to Parthenay (approx 32 kms). It is purely for cyclists, joggers and horses. There are no hills !!. You can stop at the numerous villages it passes through for a snack or café. Its ideal for children as there are no cars.

Parc Oriental - 20 minutes
Here you can enjoy this fabulous park which changes every season. When you stand in the luxurious park you feel totally relaxed. Within the grounds you will find a small oriental garden centre and tea room. On Saturday evenings you can light your way through the gardens with a Japanese lantern. Just next door is a large chateau which is now a hotel with a fabulous tea room where you can purchase afternoon tea. A day not to be missed.

The Marais Poitevin
A listed site where you can discover a unique and amazing landscape featuring canals, fertile hedged farmlands, local specialities and authentic festivities. If you love nature, the marshes are the ideal setting to observe it and recharge your batteries as you travel the length and breadth of its many waterways or paths Pleasure, fresh air, a change of scenery... you will be charmed by the authenticity!.

La Foret d'aventure - 25 minutes
Rope walks and slides high above the ground. Great fun for children and adults.

Go Karting - 25 minutes
Two excellant tracks for a fun day out.

Pescalis - 20 minutes
Europe's premier fishing complexes offering 250 acres of lakes in which trout, carp and sturgeoan are stocked. ( Travel time 25 mins )

The Bressuire area

Fishing - Just a five minute walk is a beautiful lake. Permits can be bought locally.

The town is famous for its 11th century chateau and modern sculptors in the grounds. This June, set in chateau grounds are the european championship of the highland games.

Also in June we have the North Deux Sevres car rally. A mini version of the WRC around the local villages.

Fete de la musique in June is when the towns and villages are transformed with local musicians playing all day and into the night.

Bastille day of July 14th - The chateau of Bressuire has all day activities including local foods and wines with a firework display in the evening.

Airports :-

The airports of NANTES, LA ROCHELLE and POITIERS are equidistant from our property - all within 1hr 30 mins drive.
Ryanair (www.ryanair.com) operates frequent low cost flights from London Stansted to all three airports as well as from Bournemouth and Birmingham to Nantes.
Easyjet (www.easyjet.co.uk) run a service from London Gatwick to La Rochelle and Nantes and from Bristol to La Rochelle.
Flybe (www.flybe.com) also fly from Southampton, Birmingham and Manchester to La Rochelle. For car hire at La Rochelle try either www.europcar.co.uk or www.holidayautos.co.uk who both operate from the airport terminal.

BY SEA:

Take the Eurotunnel (www.eurotunnel.com) for a short 35 minute crossing from Folkestone to Calais or alternatively take the ferry. Sea France (www.seafrance.com) and P&O (www.poferries.com) sail from Dover to Calais. Brittany Ferries (www.brittany-ferries.co.uk) offer sailings from Poole and Portsmouth to Cherbourg and from Portsmouth to both St Malo and Caen.
Another good ferry operator is LD Lines (ldlines.co.uk) that operate from Portsmouth to LeHavre and Newhaven to Dieppe. You will find that they are usually cheaper than Brittany ferries.

“Nice peacefully location with lovely owners quite family place” Camp site is lovely and well maintained , we stayed in a bungalow on sure which was great, good play area and pool for the kids. Nice bakeries etc nearby but very quite in town with not many restaurants. Great base for visiting the must see pu de foy and a visit to the futura park is great for all ages of children , good as part of a travelling holiday itinerary
