Le Col Vert is a 16th century stone farmhouse set in 10 acres of private grounds in the middle of a 100 acre estate, with a private fishing lake and a large 10 x 5 metre swimming pool with panoramic views over rolling countryside.
Exposed beams, a magnificent fireplace and stone pillars feature in the huge living room, refurbished for this season. There is a large fitted country kitchen/dining room, antique furniture and ample space throughout. Upstairs a galleried landing with exposed beams leads to three bedrooms, two double and one twin, with beautiful furniture and French bedding, a bathroom with over the bath shower and a second WC.
Larger families or groups can also rent Le Bouvier, the only other property in the grounds of L' Audebaudiere.

The Poitou-Charentes / Vendee / Deux Sevres region
With the sunniest climate in Western France, this area is one of the most unspoilt in the country. The Atlantic coast has gentle sandy beaches, with bridged islands like Oléron and Ré, to be explored just offshore.
For the children (and adults!), only half an hour away a visit to Puy de Fou in Les Epesses, Vendee is a must! One of France’s largest attractions it features gladiators in horse-drawn chariots in a huge amphitheatre and much, much more, including spectacular fireworks in the evening. Le Cadre Noir – is the French equivalent of the Spanish Riding School. The riding display is amazing and you can tour around the 400 stables where top riders from all over the world come to train their horses.
At just over an hour away, L’Audbaudiere is also within easy reach of the beaches of the Vendee for a days outing.

Bressuire / St Aubin du Plain area
L’Audebaudiere,,which Le Col Vert is part of, is situated in the Poitou Charente region, close to the borders of the Loire and Vendee regions. This property is close enough to drive to comfortably, yet far enough south to enjoy the warmer climate. Located just half a mile from the small village of St Aubin du Plain with its local shop, bar/restaurant and indoor tennis court.
There is a riding school just one mile away and lots of scope for walking, bird watching and cycling (bring your own bikes).
Four miles away is the market town of Argenton Les Vallees ( formerly Argenton Chateau ), restaurants and a beautiful lake for boating or just playing in the sand.
There are several chateaux to visit locally and the large Chateau town of Bressuire is approximately seven miles away with many shops, restaurants, two hypermarkets and an international tennis club.
The wildlife is quite amazing; lizards, rabbits, hares, field mice, deer, otters, wild boar, giant buzzards, owls, kingfishers and each evening a spectacular aerobatic display by thousands of starlings coming to roost by the lake – a must for any keen bird watchers.
