Set in the most glorious countryside, surrounded by rolling fields, woodland and 180 acres of farmland with grazing cattle, red kites soaring overhead and a wealth of interesting trees, flora and fauna. Beautifully converted to an exceptionally high standard from the original 17th Century barns, the two cottages have a contemporary, yet comfortable and homely feel. The craftsmen builders have retained the original oak beams, and some of the stonework. The owners are very happy to help guests make the most of their stay and have plenty of local information and recommended places to visit in the area.

This is an ideal base for exploring the area. The market town of Brecon is only a 20 minute drive away; famed for its impressive Cathedral, a bustling town centre with cafes, shops and supermarkets, a Farmer's Market, an excellent cinema, theatre, museums and a leisure centre with indoor swimming pool. For guests wishing to go to the coast the wonderful Gower beaches are an excellent day trip option as would be a day out exploring Pembrokeshire.

The barn has large dining and seating areas with comfortable sofas, flat screen TV and DVD. Wood burning stoves are located in both living rooms. The slate tile floor has cosy under-floor heating. Separate spacious kitchens with newly fitted shaker-style units. Plenty of work and storage space, fully equipped with the latest appliances; electric halogen hob and oven, washing machine, dishwasher and upright fridge-freezer and microwave. Front door leads out to terrace and large outdoor table and chairs and BBQ.

Tastefully decorated twin and double bedrooms with bath and shower en-suite.

An upstairs sitting room with a high ceiling boasts a magnificent oak A frame. The contemporary colour used on the feature wall enhances this cosy living space with oak floor and wood burner set in the hand-hewn fire surround.

Direct access onto a large decked area with outdoor table and chairs where you can sit out in the evening with a drink and admire the fine views of the surrounding hills. Hot Tub available with Upper Bull Pen.

Patio areas outside each entrance to catch the morning sun with ample outdoor furniture and BBQs. Two large decked areas are located in prime position (also with outdoor furniture) for the evening sun and views of the surrounding hills.

The Bull Pens can be booked weekly or for a short break. Week breaks commence on a Monday or Friday. Short Breaks are bookable Fri-Mon or Mon-Fri.

Please enquire to seek availability for Saturday start dates.

The first basket of logs is complimentary, subsequent baskets are £5.

For extra guests over 8 the cost is £12 per person per night

The Powys/Brecon Beacons region

There are many attractions to visit including a Norman Cathedral with its own heritage centre, two museums: the South Wales Borderers Museum, which contains memorabilia of the Regiment's defence of Rourke's Drift and the Brecknock Museum which is situated in the Town's elegant former courthouse and is packed full of fascinating exhibits.The magnificent Brecon Beacons, Brecon to Monmouth canal and Brecon Beacons National Park all play their part in the make up of this beautiful area.

The River Usk flows through the town and the promenade along the Usk is an ideal area for a gentle stroll, you can even enjoy boating on the river. New additions to the town are Bethel Square Shopping Centre and Theatre Brycheiniog.

There is a livestock market held every Tuesday and Friday and a craft market on the third Saturday of every month. Also a thriving Farmer's Market on the second Saturday of the month.

Brecon

A championship golf course at Cradoc and a 9-hole course in Brecon are popular with both local and visiting golfers. Llangorse Lake for sailing enthusiasts and the Taff Trail for cyclists and excellent walking in the surrounding hills.
