Red Cow House is a beautiful stone cottage set in the Brecon Beacons National Park. We are pet friendly.

With a log burner in the dining room and a large open fire in the snug, you can put your feet up ( or paws ) and enjoy a real fire.

This detached cottage has beamed ceilings throughout with parts of the building dating back 300 years.

Outside you will find a large garden, a river and a kitchen garden.

Wildlife enthusiasts don't have to leave the garden to see the other residents of this area. Red Kites are always soaring above, while birds from the surrounding mature woodland help themselves to the feeders. At night you can here the owls calling to each other and see the bats circling the river.

If you enjoy stargazing, come to Red Cow House. The Brecon Beacons National Park has been awarded 'Dark Sky Reserve' status ( only the fifth place in the world ) and to celebrate we have provided a telescope for your use.

For people who enjoy walking, this area is a pure delight. The Brecon Beacons have it all. You'll find waterfalls, lakes, woods, moors and caves. Maps and walk books are provided to help you plan your adventure.

Cooks can help themselves to herbs and vegetables from the kitchen garden.

The nearest town is Llandovery ( 6 miles ), where you will find shops , pubs and restaurants.

The nearest village is Trecastle ( 2.5 miles ), with a couple of pubs and a tea room.

Brecon is 12 miles ( the Jazz festival begins on August 8th )

Hay on Wye is 20 miles ( the literature festival begins on May 22nd )

The Powys/Brecon Beacons region

Red Cow House is situated in the north of the Brecon Beacons National Park. The mountain range is home to Pen Y Fan, at 2907 ft, the highest peak in south Wales. The Park has some spectacular features, caves, remote reservoirs, a glacial lake and waterfalls.

With the stunning backdrop of the Brecon Beacons and unspoilt countryside, this is the ideal holiday destination. A delight for walkers, bird watchers, those seeking a relaxing break or for an activity holiday.

Red Cow House is 6 miles from Llandovery and 2 miles from Trecastle, a small village with two pubs and a tea room.

Llandovery is a lovely little market town with pubs, restaurants and unique shops. There are tennis courts and a lovely children's play area. The remains of Llandovery castle overlook the town.

Brecon

Brecon is a market town nestled in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons and on the bank of the River Usk.

The town has a cathedral, theatre, museum and many shops and restaurants. Brecon is also the terminus for the Monmouth and Brecon canal.
