Glass House is located at the edge of Llangors village in the heart of the Brecon Beacons a few fields away from Llangors lake. The property has extensive views towards the mountains and is only a few minutes walk from two local pubs. Llangors is a hub of outdoor activities with watersports on the lake and the nearby rope and climbing centre. There are also many spectacular bike rides and walks available on the door step.

Glass House is a recently built house of high specification. It combines ecological materials such as sheeps wool insulation, lime plasters and lime based paints. The house has a huge living area, extensive views over the farmland and mountains through floor to ceiling windows and either slate or oak floors throughout. It is an ideal base for families or groups of friends.

Changover days are Friday and Monday peak season and are flexible where possible. Discounts available for longer stays or small groups. Well behaved pets are welcome.

Arrival time is typically after 5pm and check out time is 10am but we may be able to accommodate variations if given notice.

Advanced booking is required in all cases. Book online through Holiday Lettings, enquire or call 07976 975 363 for more information. The booking will then be confirmed on receipt of the deposit.

Payment

A deposit of £10% is required to confirm the booking, with the balance of the total fee due one month before the arrival date. For bookings made less than one month before the arrival date the full payment is required on booking. Please note that all payments received are non-refundable.

The Powys/Brecon Beacons region

The Brecon Beacons National Park contains some of the UK's most stunning backdrops for walking, cycling and outdoor activities.

The market towns of Hay-On-Wye, Brecon and Crickhowell offer: independent and boutique shops; theatre; cinema; sports; pubs; bars and eating establishments.

The area is home to some fine agrucultural land and as a result there is a range of excellent local produce and some fantastic restaurants. Of particular note are the Griffin Inn, Felinfach; the White Swan in Llanfrynach; the Gliffaes county house near Crickhowell; and the Walnut Tree Inn, Abergavenny. Which have earned the area a couple of spots in the Times 50 best places to eat in the Countryside. There are also some farm shops and farmers markets with the Welsh Venison centre in near-by Bwlch being a favourite.

There is plenty to do all year round but the area really comes to life between May and September with the Guardian Hay Literature Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival, the Greenman Festival and the Royal Welsh Show (one of the best agricultural shows in the world).

Brecon

Llangors is a short drive from Brecon, Crickhowell and Hay-On-Wye making it an excellent base to explore the Brecon Beacons. However, Llangors is in its own right a great place to visit with watersports on the Llangors lake, the largest natural lake in South Wales; a near-by rope, activites and riding centre; two village pubs (four in the summer) and some great walks and cycle rides.

"Lovely, but a little tired"

We appreciate all reviews and are grateful for the positive comments in this review however we were very disappointed to receive the negative comments which are in contrast to other reviews.

Firstly the house is family run. There are two mobile numbers provided and it is sited on our farm so there is usually someone not too far away to resolve issues or answer questions if necessary. None of the issues in this review were raised to us so we were unable to resolve during the stay.
1) We clean the house extensively between each stay and thoroughly check the property before the next guests arrive. We would have happily resolved any specific issues if they had been raised.
2) The kitchen layout is pretty standard and is Magnet designed. There are several oven trays and a masher, spatula's etc. as you might expect. We'd have been happy to help the guests find these.
3) The TV area criticism is warranted. The sofa can seat six and there are bean bags for the remainder. Not ideal with certain configurations if everyone wishes to watch TV at the same time. However, this is hopefully not often an issue and hasn't been a comment previously.
4) Wi-fi is as reliable as any rural area. A consistent service is provided on PlusNet and the speed test is usually around 5.6mbs.
5) There is a pond in the garden, which is around 40cm deep, and we do make guests aware that this may be an issue with children. It directly adjoins the house and has ceiling to floor windows overlooking it so is well visible from inside the house and also from the garden providing safety. We have in the past put a barrier up around the pond if it has been of special concern to a guest.
