The West Wales/Pembrokeshire region

To give you some insight in what you can do to fill a week or two if you choose our cottage :-

Nearby we have some fantatstic beaches, that are about 40/50 minutes drive away, but a lovely traffic free, non queueing drive ! Pembrey ( the closest and plenty to do here for children), Mwnt, Llangranog, Tenby, and Newquay are my favourites, and all are fairly close.

There are a few great castles half an hour away which are not only historic but a great walk, and great views to enjoy the countryside. Nearest are Dinefewr in Llandeilo, Carreg Cennen in Trapp and Llanstephan Castle. Each is a great day out with good walks, and places to eat.

We are 15 minutes from the Botanic Gardens, Aberglasney Gardens, and Dinefwr Park.

A trip to this area also needs a visit to Lyn y Brianne Reservoir, its a beautiful drive, and isnt far from Llandovery ( also a good place to visit...places to eat and a small museum). There are some great walks, with a spectacular RSPB walk that follows a mountain river and is a must.

The Edwinsford Sporting Estate is nearby for day fishing for Salmon, or shooting.

Take a trip to the traditional town of Llandeilo, its a great historical town, with places to shop and eat, its geared for Toursim, but reflects the old town values. Carmarthen is also nearby, with traditional high street shopping, new shopping centre, state of the art cinema, and a leisure centre.

I have a listed two week programme of places to go and things to do, to help a vistor get the best from the area. Happy to help plan a way to get the best from the area for your visit.

Our village is small and friendly. The cottage is in the middle of it near to the Pub.

There are about 30 houses and the main road is parrallel to the River Cothi, a salmon river. In the mornings you can sometimes see the Kingfisher in action, or the Otters.

We are at the entrance to the Brechfa Forest where you can access a few way marked walks which are not busy and beautifully tranquil or use the Brechfa Mountain Bike Tracks. In

You can eat in our Pub, its all home made, and we are blessed with chatty locals. Alternatively Llandeilo has some nice places to eat, as does Carmarthen.

We have a community run store in Brechfa for basics, but Carmarthen or Llandeilo are equidistant if you need big shopping, with a 24hr Tesco in Carmarthen.

"Great cottage for mountain biking at Brechfa Forest"

Great cottage in a great location for mountain biking which is why I rented it. It's owned by the landlords (George and Louise) of the local pub who were very nice hosts and serve some good beer. There was no wifi or mobile phone signal (I'm on Tesco/O2) at the cottage so keeping in touch with others was difficult but a great excuse if that's what you want for the break from. We could have done with a little more wood for the wood burner but you can buy extra bags for £5 from the owners so no big deal.

I'm used to a powerful shower at home so the (electric) shower was a bit weak but adequate. Can be easily fixed George if you install a mixer and run it directly off your boiler!

"Excellent accomodation in a beautiful location"

Stayed with a couple of friends mountain biking for a few days. The accomodation was excellent, the location was perfect. Ideal with mountain biking and walks on the door step and a lovelly pub serving great food a couple of doors down. And more importantly super helpful and friendly landlords, who own the holiday cottage and pub. My friend had a serious problem with his bike which could have ruined our trip but George went above and beyond to try to arrange it to be fixed, but when this wasn't possible he managed to arrange a hire bike at such short notice - a big thank you.

"Idyllic cottage holiday"

My partner Maaike and her 7 year old son and I stayed at Cothi View for the last week of August. We arrived later than planned in a stunning, quiet, wooded valley to collect the keys from the Landlord of the local pub The Black Lion (more of that later). We wandered back to the cottage, to find a warm and cosy home which would easily sleep 8 people. With only the three of us we had space to spare. Well furnished and clearly recently decorated and cleaned.
After settling in we wandered back to the Black Lion to sample the local Ale and meet our landlord. George couldn't be more helpful and knowledgeable about the area, having grown up within a stones throw of the pub.
Great cottage, fabulous local countryside for walking and cycling with the stunning beaches of Carmarthen Bay to the East, and the South Coast of Pendine all within an hours drive. All topped off by a local pub serving excellent, varied and damn good value food, and did I mention the local ale?
Despite the wettest summer in living memory we didn't get rained on once and loved every minute of every day. Great memories, lovely people, stunning scenery.

We plan to get back as soon as we can

Thank you. Glad you had a good time, and thanks for the lovely review. We look forward to having you back could upgrade to the other cottage with the hot tub !!
