Gorgeous Dordogne hilltop farmhouse just ten minutes from the Venice of the Dordogne, Brantome, with its restaurants and cafes. Situated in a tiny hamlet perched on top of a hill, Blanchardiere offers complete escape from the modern world.

Surrounded by fig, apple, cherry, pear and apricot trees, overlooking unspoilt oak wood, teaming with wildlife including lots of deer and wild boar. There are views across to a spectacular château from the garden - you can even hear the distant bells of the local village church (only just, not enough to disturb your sleep!).

This is ideally suited to those who want utter tranquillity, in a house with all the mod cons. The house has been fully restored, furnished beautifully and has plenty of living space. The Aquitaine/Dordogne region

Famed for its truffles, great food and wine and wonderful rolling scenery, the Dordogne is a premier holiday favourite.

With thousands of historic castles, châteaux and tourist attractions, including the world famous caves at Lascaux and similar amazing caves at Villars, 10 minutes away.

The wine country of Bordeaux is two hours away and the beaches of Aquitaine are also within reach.

Famed as the Venice of the Dordogne, Brantome is the quintessential French market town - a bustling farmers market twice a week (Tues and Friday) brings the narrow cobbled streets to life.

Enjoy fantastic restaurants - several of which are Michellin starred. Or take a day out to go canoeing on the serene River Dronne.

The area has numerous historic castles and Chateaux open to the public, including Château Puyguilhem just five minutes from the house.

"A perfect place, a perfect trip - the kind you dream of"

I cannot recommend Blanchardiere highly enough. It is perfectly located in a stunning part of the Dordogne - remote enough to have a sense of privacy and to feel like you're getting away from it all but also close enough to shops, markets and idyllic villages so that you don't feel cut off. The accommodation itself is fantastic- a bit like staying in your personal chateau with period design and vast grounds only with modern facilities. It also has incredible views of the surrounding area. It's a wonderful destination for small or large groups - I can't fault it.
