A holiday cottage in Branscombe, East Devon, is a haven for walkers and guests seeking a quiet country holiday in an unspoilt coastal village. With a cluster of thatched and stone cottages nestling alongside a narrow lane at the bottom of a wooded valley, Branscombe is believed to be the longest village in the country.
Two local hostelries, a P/O store, Norman church, couple of tea rooms and a working forge are the main facilities of the village, so this is a location more suited to visitors seeking peace and quiet in their Branscombe holiday cottage. Branscombe also offers a fine selection of dog friendly holiday cottages.
Surrounded by narrow lanes, National Trust footpaths and coastal walks, the village is especially popular for walking holidays in Devon whilst gourmets seek to enjoy the culinary delights and real ales served in the Masons Arms Inn (See our Food & Drink pages). Sidmouth town, with shops and entertainment is about ten minutes drive and there is a local bus service to the neighboring village of Beer .
