About this location
The Algarve region
With some of Europe's best golden sandy beaches and beautiful secluded coves, the Algarve is blessed with an almost tropical climate, boasting over 3.000 hours of annual sunshine.
Portugal's southern region is justifiably the most popular year round destination, with idyllic rocky coves, fresh seafood, and picturesque fishing villages. It offers bright, mild winters, and long balmy summers - a favourite for all ages.
The Algarve is 240km from east to west, and approx. 40kms from north to south.
There are numerous resorts, spectacular scenery and activities for all tastes, whether it's lazy days by the pool, sunset walks on the many stunning beaches, exciting days out to water parks or leisurely strolls around picturesque perfect towns full of history and tradition.
Only a few kilometers before arriving into Albufeira, you will find the marvelous Falésia Beach, in Açoteias (where the delightful coast-hugging golf course of Sheraton Pine Cliffs is located), the exquisite fishing village of Olhos de Água as well as the pretty beaches of Maria Luísa and Santa Eulália.
Albufeira is the most popular resort in the Central Algarve Region, being a small fishing village until the tourism industry emerged in the 1960´s. Substantial developments since the have turned this popular town into a major holiday resort. Today it is hugely popular, it has some of the most beautiful beaches, a new marina and a vibrant atmosphere. Albufeira has two main areas: the “old town” which is full of narrow pedestrian streets with cafes, bars, shops and restaurants; and the east side known as “Praia da Oura area”, where the popular Oura beach and nightlife area of “the Strip” can be found.
The inland villages of Paderne and Boliqueime are located only a short distance away. Both villages are delightful hamlets with breathtaking views over the sea and Barrocal Region.
Guia is a popular village, only 7kms away from Albufeira, which boasts a number of popular chicken piri piri restaurants. Just outside Guia is the Algarve Shopping Centre (also know as “Guia Shopping”), with a hypermarket, a wide range of shops, cinema and a fun bowling area. The spectacular Zoomarine theme park is also nearby, as well as a number of beaches in the neighboring Vale de Parra area.
Vale de Parra, which you can find only five kilometers towards the west side of Albufeira, is an area of low hills and whitewashed holiday homes, with the wonderful and picturesque beaches of São Rafael, Coelha, Castelo, Galé and Salgados along the coast. These glorious sandy beaches, as well as more intimate coves, offer some superb beach front restaurants, perfect for fish and sea food lovers.
The expanse of Salgados beach (where the popular Salgados golf course is located), links to the well established holiday resort of Armação de Pera. Like many other Algarvian towns, Armação de Pera was once a small fishing village, but as tourism has taken hold it has expanded with many high-rise holiday apartments and hotels being built, particularly to the west. The eastern side of town is not as popular, and was able to retain much more of its original character. Its beach is rated by many as one of the best.

"Perfect combination of privacy and peace yet close to hustle and bustle"
Our group consisted of 'the grand parent' the parents and the toddlers. We all agree that this villa is absolutely fantastic. A big plus is that the villa is in a very quiet area and you feel safe and secure and can relax in peace, yet a few minutes up the road and you can be amongst the hustle and bustle of 'the strip', or more to our liking was old town Albufeira. The closest beach is also only a few minutes car drive which is ideal for those wanting to avoid the midday heat and return to the villa to cool off. The villa is also a short drive from the airport.
Just up the road there is an Italian restaurant which I cannot recommend enough. The food is fresh, excellent quality and serves vegetables (much of the tourist parts of this region serve chips, snack food etc so good quality food on the doorstep was a major plus.) The restaurant has a specials menu where you can have three courses for 11.90 which is fantastic value for money. You can also order food to take away.
In the opposite direction, again a five minute walk there is a snack bar/cafe which serves good value snack food, they bend over backwards to make sure you are happy. The Grandparents raved about the cheese and ham toasted sandwich, which apparently was a feast in itself containing far more than just cheese and ham and was covered in the owners 'special sauce'. What ever it was, apparently it was amazing.
Near the snack bar there is a local mini market where you can purchase essentials such as milk, also you can order freshly baked bread.
For our party the layout of the villa was also ideal. There are two wings of the villa each with a kitchen and sitting room meaning that groups can sit together and socialize, or retreat to their own space if and when needed. There are very few steps making it ideal for small children or those with mobility issues.
The villa is cleaned on an almost daily basis, we stayed for 10 days and the cleaner came for 8 of those days. She was exceptional thorough and friendly. In addition to a cleaner the villa is maintained by a gardener every morning who cleans the pool, pool area and sunbeds.
The Grandparents recommend getting a map and exploring off the beaten track and seeing the lesser advertised villages and countryside.
The parents recommend the cool atmosphere and vibe of the old town, where the square has live music and some good restaurants.
The children recommend Zoomarine (as do the parents, fantastic day out), and Slide and Splash.
The only negatives we have come up with between us is that we required two travel cots. Unfortunately one was not great and our little fella found it very uncomfortable. The other was a bit dated.
The second con was that some of the beds were quite uncomfortable/ very hard mattresses. Although we did not raise these issues with the villa owner.
Overall, we all feel that this is a lovely villa, well maintained, with friendly staff and top quality service. The location was ideal to suit a diverse range of needs and we would love to come back.

"Fabulos Villa for a relaxing family holiday..."
Villa set about 25 minutes walk to the Strip. 50 minutes to Aldi, Lidl and Modelo supermarkets.
There is a couple of local snack bars which are brilliant and a few local bard that charge €1 for a bottle of Sagres beer.
The villa is spotless and the maid is in every morning apart from a Sunday, the pool, sun loungers and bbq area was cleaned every morning. There is a local supermarket that sells most things required in small quantities. Loved the location and being woken by the cockerel every morning. You could call local taxi's and they were at villa in minutes. Taxi to Strip €5 old town €8...Great swimming pool and free wi-fi a bonus. The local Italian restaurant "Il Vesuvio" was easily the best food we had all fortnight. We would definitely return and we would have no hesitation in recommending this Villa. There was a few ants but I am sure that was a seasonal issue.

"Great family villa"
Would definitely recommend this property but family with young children would require a car though it is only about 25 minute walk to strip. Taxis are nightmare between 6pm and 9pm.… More
