Home description
Stranraer has been extensively refurbished recently to provide a light and sunny family house. With a new and well furnished kitchen and dining room seating up to 10, the house is a welcome getaway for families and couples.
The house is surrounded by garden and overlooks fields to the front and back, making it a very quiet and peaceful retreat. Downstairs features a newly fitted and well equipped kitchen, which is open plan to a dining room.
There is a twin bedroom downstairs with a shower room/toilet next door. The smaller of the sitting rooms features a daybed and flat screen TV, with a cupboard full of children's toys. The large sitting room has comfy sofas and armchairs, a tv, DVD, ipod docking station and speakers and a newly fitted wood burner. The sitting room has double doors opening out onto the back lawn.
Upstairs, there is a double bedroom, and two twin rooms, one of which has pull out trundle beds and an en suite bathroom, with roll top bath.
Although we have stated max of 8 there are 2 truck beds and a double day bed if they are needed.
Outside, a utility room contains a washing machine, dryer, and further storage. A teak outdoor table (again seating 10) and chairs, gas bbq and deck chairs are also available - a new patio has just been laid to the rear of the garden, off the kitchen. There is also a disused boat for children to play on.
There is plenty of off road parking.

The East Anglia / Norfolk region
The North Norfolk coast is the perfect get away, with vast sandy beaches and great facilities for all the family. There are many excellent local pubs and restaurants and many historical houses of intrest including Sandringham and Holkham Hall.
There are numerous and varied walks along miles of open beaches, across sweeping sand dunes, through pine woods or along chalk and sandstone cliff tops.
There are internationally renowned bird reserves nearby at Tichwell,Holme and at Cley.Golf can be found at the Royal West Norfolk Golf Club, Brancaster or Hunstanton.Tennis courts are available near the village halls in Brancaster Staithe and Brancaster.
Brancaster / Brancaster Staithe area
Stranraer is tucked away down a quiet private road, just a few minutes walk from Brancaster Staithe sailing club and harbour, where you can launch your boats, take the children crabbing or simply stroll along the coastal path and admire the stunning views. Sailing and other water sport instruction, plus a hire service, can be found at Northshore - which is located opposite the entrance to the harbour. There is a very good fishing charter boat which can be hired for parties of up to ten people..these trips last for 8 hours and you will fish for tope, cod, sea bass and makerel...go to http://www.norfolkfishingtrips.co.uk/
Local fish can be bought from either the harbour or in the fish shed in the village, ( five minute walk) mussels, lobsters and oysters can also be bought from various houses in the village.
The popular village of Burnham Market, well-known for its excellent shops, galleries and places to eat, including The Host, is only a mile down the road.
There are many good walks and the North Norfolk coastal path is very popular, heading either towards Brancaster beach or Burnham Overy Staithe.
There are two extremely good pubs in the village, The Jolly Sailors, which is a two minute walk, brews its own beer and has a climbing frame in the garden. The White Horse, which is a five minute walk, has great views over the marshes and offers both a bar and restaurant menu - it is known for its food.
Within the village there is a garage with a costcutter supermarket, a Fat Face clothes store , a couple of gift shops, a tourist infomation centre, and an extremely good cafe/restaurant which is great for all the family.
There is also a boat garage which is always extremely helpful.
As well as great sailing the area offers some of the best kite and buggy surfing at Brancaster. Windsurfing at Hunstanton and some of the best surfing in the east at Cromer and East Runton.
There is a multitude of interesting places to see and activities to enjoy in the surrounding area, with Holkham Hall (and Beach) Sandringham House and Nelson's birthplace at nearby Burnham Thorpe. A drive down the coast will take you to many little fishing villages with picturesque quaysides - not to mention all sorts of lttle shops, galleries and surprises.
Golfers can enjoy one of the country's top Championship Links at Hunstanton and the equally challenging Royal West Norfolk course at Brancaster, only a couple of minutes drive away. Birdwatchers, walkers and nature lovers are also spoilt for choice, with Snettisham, Blakeney, Holkham and Cley Nature Reserve all within a short drive.
A file of local attractions can be found at the house.
How to get there
There are airports at Norwich and Stansted both of which are about 1.5-2 hours away. Kings Lynn railway station is 20km and costs about £25 in a booked taxi. Kings Lynn is 1.5 hours from Kings Cross and 2 hours from Liverpool street.
The house is situated at the Harbour end of Brancaster Staithe which is handy for boat launching but is also less than a mile from the beach at Brancaster. Stranraer is tucked away down a quiet private road.
Set back from the main coast road up a track, and surrounded by fields, the house is extremely safe and very quiet.
