The East Anglia / Norfolk region

The North Norfolk Coast is one of the most unspoilt and traditional areas of the United Kingdom. With so much to do for families and holiday makers of all ages, it is one of the most visited areas of the country.
- For families there are award-winning beaches, adventure days out, interactive farms and seaside entertainments and funfairs.
- For birdwatchers there are nature reserves, visitor centres, and some of the most unusual and rarely seen nesting birds.
- For golfers there are several golf courses easily accessible for players of all ages.
- For walkers there are some of the most picturesque villages, breathtaking coastal and countryside views, and the North Norfolk pathway to explore.
- There are also the stately homes of Sandringham and Holkham Hall which offer days out for all budgets and interests.
The Brancaster / Thornham area
Located directly on the coast, between Hunstanton and Brancaster, Thornham was originally a harbour village, famous for its smuggling history. It boasts many historical buildings, including the Coal Barn, allegedly used for smuggling activities, which some say is one of the most photographed buildings in Norfolk.
The facilities Thornham offers are excellent for a holiday village, and improving all the time. For eating out there are 3 pub restaurants, all with excellent reputations and within a short walk.
Thornham also offers a deli shop and The Yurt, for those looking for a more original eating experience. The Yurt also has a farm shop on site which offers amazing, fresh fruit and vegetables.
Thornham has recently also improved its local park, which boasts a tennis court, football pitch, cricket pitch, and play area for children.
Thornham has a beach, accessible by a short walk from the Coal Barn parking area, very unspoilt and private. There are also numerous walks over the salt marshes and mud flats, and some say the mud has healing properties.
A 5 minute drive or short trip on the Coasthopper bus line will take you to the delights of Hunstanton, a traditional seaside town, with attractions and shops to match. In the other direction there are Titchwell, with the excellent Titchwell Manor Restaurant and the Eating Rooms, Brancaster, with its superb beach and pubs, and on to Burnham Market and Wells-Next-the-Sea.
Bird Watching:
There is a wildlife conservation area at Thornham itself, and there are many different species to spot, including: The Barn Owl, Turtle Dove, Grey Partridge, Bullfinch, Corn Bunting, Yellowhammer, Bittern, Marsh Harrier, Bearded Tit, Pink-footed Goose, Fieldfare, Brambling and Waxwing.
There is also the RSPB Reserve at Titchwell, one of their most visited nature reserves, and another at Snettisham.
Also there is a National Wildlife Trust visitor centre at Holme-next-the-Sea, the neighbouring village.
Lastly, there is Pensthorpe wildlife park, the home of BBC's Springwatch programme.
