About this location
The Central Romania region
The village of Moeciu de Sus lies 35 kmts away from Brasov and 12 km away from Bran. It is settled in a beautiful mountain area, at the foot of the Carpathian Mountains, at the edge of the Bucegi National Park.
In Moeciu de Sus you will find yourself in raw nature, surrounded by high hills, deeep woods and rocky mountains.
The altitude of the village is 1100 m and it counts approximately 4000 inhabitants. The village scatters over three mountain valleys and as from here there is no road crossing over the mountains, there are many hiking trails starting from various points in the village.
The main activity of the villagers, for centuries, has been animal breeding, this is how the village has developed a very long tradition in preparing different types of cheeses.
Since few years ago, tourism has started to slowly develop in this area. This is how the village counts now with several facilities for rural tourism: guesthouses, restaurants, terraces and one local supermaket. There are rental centers for bicycles, quads, poneys and horse riding or guided tours at the surrounding touristic objectives or in the mountains. In winter, there are various slopes around that offer skiing and snowboarding facilities: Cheile Gradistei - 5km, Poarta - 12km, Poiana Brasov - 30km.
Moeciu de Sus is settled almost in the middle of Romania, in Brasov County, which makes it the perfect base for day trips to: Bran Castle, Rasnov Fortress, Brasov, Sinaia Castle, Predeal, Poiana Brasov or even Sighisoara.
From Bucharest there is a distance of 180 km to the village.
Moeciu de Sus is linked to Brasov by bus, but the best way of getting there is by car.
The life in the archaic villages, the old crafts, the delicious meals... everything makes for an unforgettable experience in one of the most beautiful places in Romania, Moeciu de Sus.

"The Land That Time Forgot"
This place was magical! It sits in a valley in a land that time forgot. Farmers harvest hay by hand and haul it up giant hills on their backs. Sheep with long tails lounge about in green pastures. Chi… More

"Great base for walking"
12 of us stayed here for the last two weeks of August. It was our first trip to Romania and we had no idea what to expect. Moiecui de Sus is a perfect base for walking holidays, which is what we were … More

"All We Wanted and More"
We were a party of different families and totaled 12 people including children aged between 18 months and fifteen years. Bradul Chalet is both spacious and well maintained, giving members of the group the opportunity to do different things at the same time. Even with music and partying in the main reception area, it was possible for the little ones to sleep at the top of the chalet with no problems.
The area that Bradul Chalet is set, is one of immense natural beauty, and in my opinion can rival the likes of austria and Switzerland at less than half the price. There are many beautiful walks through mountains, forest, and parks that are waiting to be explored.
We were self catering, however I am sure there are a number of local restaurants that are within easy reach. The community is served by a number of small shops for any every day requirements and the town of Bran is some 8km away where there are more shopping opportunities. Bran Castle is more commonly known as Dracula's Castle. The entrance fee here is 25 Lei for adults and 5 Lei for students. It is well worth a visit for the views and the interesting memorabilia.
Although we visited in November the weather was very mild and unseasonably warm. Indeed with the blue skies and the temperatures in the high twenties it could have been the middle of summer!
Finally I must mention Ioana and her husband who I think manage the lets on behalf of Ioana's parents. Nothing was too much trouble for them in ensuring our stay was excellent. I hope to return to Bradul Chalet again as there is much more I would like to see and do there.
I suggest you will not find a better base for your holiday be it a weekend or a month! Moeciu de Sus should be visited soon before the news gets out and you will be struggling to book!
