"THE GUARDIAN" published an article called "20 FANTASTIC FAMILY HOLIDAY VILLAS", choosing them out of tens of thousands of villas from all over Europe. Casa Heidi is among the 20. Google it! You will find it on page 5. This is the article's last sentence:

"A GLORIOUS RETREAT FOR FAMILIES OR FRIENDS, there's also oodles of space for kids to roam"

This new house, its design, features, its feeling, its great location in the village as well the village's stunning landscape and its proximity to Transylvania's most exciting sites (see house website for more details), is what you are probably looking for if you're tired of too many months spent in the city.

Take just the mountain creek passing by the house, the incredible landscapes during walks starting and finishing at the house, the abundant presence of warm colors used inside the villa, the fabulous view from the double Jacuzzi located in the roof attic between two large windows overlooking the Carpathian Mountains, the orange and lime green pure cotton bedding and towels which come from our favourite producer, the pillows and the eiderdowns, filled with natural down, the extremely comfortable mattresses, the radio-CD-MP3 next to EACH double bed, the recently installed WIFI, the thermostatic taps installed in all shower cabins or the large wooden cuhioned garden swing. These and many other features speak for what the main goal behind this villa has been: to supply pleasure, relaxation and peace of mind.

We have always asked for feed back from our "most spoiled" guests' - from Switzerland, France, Austria the UK, New Zealand or the U.S., trying to find out what they felt could be improved and for quite some time suggestions. That is maybe because this house was planned by us for many years as our own dream-mountain-vacation-house, gathering our ideas, designs and objects from all over the world.

Hints and Tips

More and more attractions appear every other day, but inside of Bran, the best, healthiest and most spectacular thing to do is hiking along its paths, its creeks, its hills, enjoying its wild peacefulness and breathtaking views. Once you do this, enjoying good restaurants will come quite naturally. The ski slope is just 2 km away from the house. This is where, in the summer, you'll start your walks inside the "Bucegi National Park": a great combination of fir forests, mountain creeks, wild strawberry, raspberry, mushrooms and no traffic at all. Not far from Bran you have an unique (and 100% safe) bear park. OK, before leaving Bran, "fulfill your duty", visit "Dracula's Castle which is surrounded by a very good "village museum" where you'll get an idea of how life used to be and look like in Bran's surroundings. An updated list of restaurants (traditional as well as special ones - ostrich, deer and bear specialties) and more or less extreme sports and leisure options, I will supply you before arrival. Casa Heidi is a great base for one day trips in the area. The most wonderful Medieval Saxon towns, fortified churches and fortresses are never too far - see my website or any travel guide.

The Transylvania region

TRANSYLVANIA - A Legendary Land

Transylvania is by far the most romantic and inspiring of Romania's provinces. Its very name brings to mind visions of mountain peaks rising up to the sky above wooded valleys and sparkling streams, visions of high-roofed wooden churches, legendary castles and a troubled history.....

"Dracula's Castle" is only one km away from our villa, but this nice castle built by the Teutonic Knights around 1212 should NOT be your main reason to visit Bran, BUT:

We have already had visitors from the UK, the USA, Switzerland, Germany and Austria and they all agreed: Bran's landscape is really unique in its intensive, wild beauty.

It is a highly picturesque mountain village, with its permanently changing topography, with its immense green grass carpets dotted with wild flowers, randomly decorated by thousands of hay stacks all along the summer and autumn, with sheep flocks crossing your way , framed by mountain streams, fir tree forests, fringed by the numerous Carpathian peaks almost from all directions, surrounded by cities resplendent with gothic, baroque and renaissance architecture, as well as a wealth of historical attractions, Bran's area is one of the most visited places in Romania.

Shops, Internet places, banks, ATVand ski rentals are never too far away.

Last but not least, please also keep in mind the traditional tasty meals offered by the many restaurants in the village itself as well as in the whole area.

"A home away from home!"

After a long journey by train and then by taxi we arrived in Bran and were welcomed to our 'home' for a week. A gorgeous house surrounded by fields, beautiful scenery, the sounds of a babbl… More

It was an honor to be chosen by Jo and Ben after their stressful and successful championship in Bulgaria. There were quite a few other…countries in the area they could have chosen. Thank you!
About the confusion related to the final payment: indeed, a confusion based on the similarity between Bulgarian Leva and Euros, but it was swiftly solved, also backed up by pictures we took and sent, not to leave behind ANY doubts.

We will so gladly host Jo and Ben again!

"We were charmed"

This was our most beautiful vacation in many years. We loved the cozy, so aesthetically pleasing and extremely well equipped villa. The views from its windows made our hearts sing. Waking up in the mo… More

We chose to build this vacation house first and foremost for ourselves, seeking total peace of mind, wishing to be surrounded by breathtaking views, after spending stressful months in polluted cities. We chose this place and designed the house, collecting ideas and artifacts accumulated during many years of touring the world. Today, we and our guests know that there are VERY few places as spectacularly beautiful, as tranquil as the spot we chose and its surroundings.
A newer feature (in our wider experience in the area) is that it does NOT ONLY offer stunning natural beauty, but also some of the "universal pleasures" a vacation can offer AND at very reasonable prices: horse back riding, swimming, Spa, paragliding, Jeep tours, water parks, concerts, excellent restaurants, etc.
We feel blessed to have our vacation house in this place, to which we try to bring our little boy as much as possible. It is a GREAT JOY that such places still exist in our super-crowded, commercial, noisy world. Not only that it exists, but it's in 2013's Europe, with more and more affordable flights bringing you not too far from Casa Heidi: in Bucharest, Cluj or Sibiu, arriving from all over Europe! )
We are really glad to see that our guests perceive exactly what we intended to create. We are so thankful for their willingness to share their impressions!

"Great holiday, great scenery, great villa"

We thought it was fantastic. The villa is lovely, the housekeeper was very friendly and always available to help. We liked the size of the villa and the equipment within it. Everything you need. We really liked the living room, the great kitchen and the jacuzzi room is fantastic fun. The kids loved having a queen-sized bed each. The house felt like a home – not a holiday rental. Regarding location – stunning scenery.

The kids had a great time. Rasnov's fort and cave, Bran Castle (the whole “Dracula” thing), the cable-cars at Brasov and Sinaia and the Peles Castle were all big hits with them. Oh, there's also a tiny model railway exhibition in the end-building of Sinaia's railway station – good for small kids before/after visiting Peles. Then there's the 10-pin bowling in Bran itself. And just the fun of being let loose in the foothills of the Bucegi Mountains or the Zarnesti Gorge! We all had a great time.
