Les Cinq Saules is a beautiful, stylishly furnished cottage dating back to the early 20th century. It is nestled in a magnificent, fully fenced 3000 m2 garden, featuring a natural pond surrounded by ancient willows, which give the cottage its name. Renovated to high standards in 2007, the cottage sleeps six (+ one baby cot). Free internet. Many of the country's major tourist sites are within easy reach from the cottage. Cosmopolitan Brussels, the historic flemish cities of Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Bruges, Ypres and Mechelen, or the abbeys, chateaus and unspoilt nature of Wallonia can all be enjoyed while returning home comfortably to the cottage on the same day. In addition, the cottage is ideally located for an 'active' holiday, including trekking, cycling, golfing, and horseriding.

The cottage has been thoroughly restored to high standards in 2007, and yet retains the original look and feel of the traditional country houses of the region. ‘Les Cinq Saules’ has been carefully equipped and furnished with quality products by the owners, who often come and stay. The cottage has a spacious sitting room, beautifully furnished with a large sofa, fitted curtains and luxurious wall-to-wall carpet, all in soft, matching colours. A traditional wood burning stove, set in a beautifully tiled hearth, complements the central heating system and creates a cosy atmosphere. The dining area features a extendable solid wood table and assorted chairs, as well as a number of carefully selected drawings and paintings. All rooms feature open views to the garden. A CD-player and a selection of books (in English, Dutch and French), maps and tourist information, and games are provided. Guests are welcome to use our high chair, wooden play pen, as well as some toys for small children.
The cottage sleeps six – two in the luxury box-spring on the ground floor, two in a double bed and two in single beds on the first floor, featuring ample wardrobe space. In addition, the ground floor bedroom holds a lovely baby cot. All beds have high-quality mattresses, lush duvets and fresh, elegant bed linen to guarantee a peaceful and restful sleep. All bedrooms feature cosy bedside lamps, while the bedroom on the ground floor also has a radio/alarm clock.
The lovely country kitchen has three large windows overlooking the garden and pond. High quality, built-in equipment is installed, from the ceramic hob with extractor fan and hot air oven with grill to the dishwasher and large fridge/freezer. Crockery and cutlery comprising of six place settings are supplied, along with everything one might possibly need in a luxury kitchen, including a microwave, toaster, croque monsieur maker, juice squeezer, water boiler and coffee maker with thermos jar. Table cloths, dish towels and dish rags are provided, as well as a selection of non-perishable foods and drinks. An open arched wall separates a breakfast bar with two stools from the dining room.
The bathroom with shower over bath, wash basin, toilet and storage cabinet is adjacent to the utility/laundry room, housing the washing machine, heater and boiler, as well as as an ironing board and iron. Towels, a hairdryer and a baby bath are provided. A folding drying rack and pegs are available.
For families with children we provide a baby bath tub, a baby changing cushion, a high chair, a lovely baby cot in the downstairs bedroom, a baby monitor, a baby play pen and baby/toddler toys (both for indoor and outdoor use).

Garden chairs, umbrella and BBQ are provided. Covered, on-site parking is available.
Les Cinq Saules was built on the site of the spring of the Ermitage, a small stream winding its way through the hills of the 'Roman Païs' to join the Hain, one of the region's larger rivers. The valley of the Ermitage was classified as a 'site of great biological interest' by the regional authorities. The cottage is surrounded by woods and farmland, and has direct access to a number of foot and bike trails.

'Les Cinq Saules’ is strictly no smoking. However, feel free to smoke outside whilst admiring the garden.
'Les Cinq Saules’ accepts well behaved pets as long as owners are willing to accept a few basic rules:
- Keep your pets in the entry hall and kitchen only (to protect our carpet).
- Do not leave your pets unattended in the cottage.
Our garden is dog-proof fenced (our fence is 1.2 m high all around). Your dog may enjoy a swim in our pond! We provide a maxi-size dog basket.
Conditions
Bookings will be confirmed only upon receipt of a deposit of one third of the total rental. The balance of the hire charge must be paid at least 3 weeks prior to the commencement of the holiday. We may treat the booking as cancelled if the balance of the hire charge is not sent by this date.
A damage deposit of 250 € is payable for bookings of up to 2 weeks long, and one week’s rental for longer bookings. The deposit is fully refundable after the property has been inspected.
If you decide, for whatever reason, to cancel your booking, we will try to re-let the cottage and refund your money minus an administrative charge of 50 €. If we are unable to re-let the cottage, any payments you have made will be forfeit.

Les Cinq Saules is located in the Belgian province of Brabant Walloon. It lies 25 km south-east of the nation's - and Europe's - bustling capital, Brussels. Many of the country's major tourist sites are within easy reach from the cottage. Cosmopolitan Brussels, the historic flemish cities of Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Bruges, Ypres and Mechelen, or the abbeys, chateaus and unspoilt nature of Wallonia can all be enjoyed while returning home comfortably to the cottage on the same day.
The Braine-le-Chateau area
'Les Cinq Saules' is situated on the outskirts of the medieval village of Braine-le-Chateau, which is nestled in the green hills of 'Le Roman Pais'. This rural region, just 25 km south-east of Brussels, offers a wide range of possibilities for holiday makers, including touristic and gastronomic routes, many hiking and cycling trails, and excellent sports facilities (golf, tennis, horseback riding, swimming ...). Lovers of art and history will enjoy the region's abbeys, churches, castles, mills and museums, while children will love the region's activity and adventure parks. Not to be missed is the historic site of Waterloo, where Napoleon was defeated by the allied forces in 1815.

'Les Cinq Saules' is easily accessible through Belgium's extensive road and railroad networks. The cottage lies just 5 km from exit 22 of highway R0 (Brussels-Namur-Mons-Charleroi), and 10 km from the railroad station of Halle.
In addition, the cottage is located in between Belgium's two main international airports, Brussels Airport and Brussels South Charleroi Airport, both exactly 40 km away. Cars can be rented at both airports. All major European airlines fly to Brussels Airport, while Brussels South Charleroi Airport is serviced by a.o. Ryanair.

Prices are inclusive of bed, kitchen and bathroom linen, electricity, internet (wifi). Final cleaning fee = 50 €. Energy is charged based on your actual consumption (meter reading, 2 € per m3 for water, 0.9 € per liter of heating fuel and 7¢/kWh for electricty) (deducted from the safety deposit).
A damage deposit of 250 € is payable with the rental fee. The deposit is fully refundable after the property has been inspected.
