Large family home in a residential area, but children have all left home. Now we look to offer their bedrooms to you! We are particularly suitable for large families or groups. If your group is more than 5 or needs more than 3 rooms, please contact me to discuss, we have 2 other rooms that are serviceable

Currently, we offer the following accommodation:

In the main part of the house, there is the "Willow Room" (25sq m) with one king-sized double bed (160cm wide). This room overlooks the terrace, the garden with its large Weeping Willow, and the horse fields. The room contains a large desk, ideal if you need to work, or to check your emails. This spacey room is ideal for a couple, and has lots of room for a baby cot or camp bed for a young child

In one area all off the same small hallway, above the garage, quite separate from the rest of the house, offering a high level of privacy are the following:

"Martin's Room", 24sq m with 1 double bed (140cm wide). It includes an antique escritoire that can be used for your laptop, etc. This room is very bright, and is very suitable for a couple

The "Peaceful Room" (15sq m) with a large single bed (120cm wide), good for one adult or two children (or 2 adults at a pinch!)). It also has a desk

1 private bathroom with bath, wash hand basin, and WC

1 private shower room

The basic price is for 1 or 2 guests in one of the double rooms of your choice, with private access to the bathroom and shower room, and complimentary breakfast. Two guests each requiring a room will be charged the basic price for one room, and the extra guest charge for the second room. Children 6 years and under are hosted for free. We have no special bedding for babies, please bring your own as necessary. A camp bed is available, suitable for one child, for use in the room of the parents

If you wish to stay for only 1 night, there is a supplement of €20 per room to cover laundry and cleaning which you should pay directly upon arrival

There are 2 other separate WCs, one on the ground floor, one upstairs close to the Willow Room. Any group of 4 or more people may also use our own bathroom, which has a shower, bath, double wash hand basin, and bidet.

You are free to make use of the large kitchen which is very well equipped both with basic ingredients and tools/utensils in order to prepare meals.

We offer you a complementary continental breakfast (freshly pressed fruit juice, "bottomless" tea/coffee, selection of bread (including home baked), butter/jam/marmalade/honey, fresh fruit), ham, cheeses. Eggs always available, you decide how you want them!

If you prefer not to bother going shopping and cooking, we can offer you an evening meal (mostly that means you will join us around the kitchen table for our evening meal). Arrange this with us in the morning (or by email before your arrival). You choose from a very short list of price options. Our meals are well-prepared by us using only fresh ingredients, no "fast food", with local ingredients to the fore!

You may opt to eat in the dining room which is reserved for guests' use only, or in the kitchen which has a large oak table that can seat 10 comfortably (and has additional extensions).

Evening-only access to our sitting room, with Internet TV, CD player, piano, and an open fireplace

Outside, we have a large terrace with garden furniture and a BBQ, with views over our garden to the adjoining fields owned by a stables.

There is wifi throughout the house. It works best upstairs in the bedrooms, but for some reason does not work in the kitchen. If you need, there is a scanner, a fax, and a laser printer in our study

We share our home with our two cats

The town's railway station is a 20 minute walk, or 2 minutes by car, and offers direct, fast and frequent trains into Brussels (Midi, Central, Nord stations). With the right ticket, the current fare is 2euro/adult/journey. This offers carefree access to Brussels, which has severe parking problems and expensive car parks. From Brussels Airport, there are frequent trains into the main Brussels stations, where you can change to the train bound for Charleroi that stops in Braine l'Alleud

In the other direction, there are trains to Nivelles and Charleroi, the latter giving easy access to Brussels South Charleroi airport

Brussels Midi station is the main international station, terminus for Eurostar, Thalys, TGV and ICE trains. Braine l'Alleud station is just a non-stop10 minute journey from Midi

There is a local bus service running from the railway station past the end of our street to Waterloo and on into Brussels

If you come by car, there is adequate parking, either in front of the garage, or on street outside the house

We are situated at the edge of the town of Braine l'Alleud, on the edge that abuts the Waterloo battlefield. The main site (The Lion Mount, the Panorama, the visitor centre) is just a 10 minute walk away.

In Waterloo, there is the Wellington Museum, and lots of designer shopping opportunities

Nivelles to the south is worth a visit, especially for its very impressive church

Park Solvay is also a recommended place to visit, an oasis of calm and greenery where everyone feels calm and relaxed well away from any road noise

There is a large variety of forest walks available in the region.

Wider afield, the delights of Belgium are all easily reachable, and the Brussels Ring (motorway) accesses are less than 1km away

The area around Waterloo and Braine l'Alleud is well served by a wide range of restaurants. There are two (a Japanese and a Chinese) within easy walking distance, several more close to the Waterloo Battlefield, and a selection in the centre of Braine l'Alleud close to the railway station
