The East Anglia / Norfolk region
Picturesque clusters of stone cottages, rolling Fens, unspoilt beaches, and pretty waterways – East Anglia is a dream holiday destination. Norfolk offers unspoilt beaches, saltmarshes, picturesque cliffs, and quaint flint villages. The pretty, popular resorts of Blakeney & Wells form part of the largest coastal nature reserve in England and Wales, where you may be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of common and grey seals, along with abundant birdlife.
Families can enjoy the popular tourist resort of Great Yarmouth, enjoy the thrills and spills at Pleasurewood Hills theme park, or roam the cycle paths and sculpture trail at Thetford Forest (not forgetting the‘Go Ape’ high wire adventure centre in the heart of the forest). Cromer is well known for its pier and crabs, or how about Sheringham, from where you can ride on a steam train to the delightful town of Holt, with its specialist shops and charming market place?
Equally as charming are the coastline and countryside of Suffolk. Historic sites such as Sutton Hoo and Framlington Castle sit alongside museums, high-wire adventure trails, beautiful gardens and bustling market towns, amidst lovely countryside with plentiful walking and cycle paths. The coastline of the area is popular with families, and the whole region has a very strong arts movement, with plenty of work by local artists on display and available to purchase.
The Bradenham area
In the heart of Norfolk the thriving village of Necton is situated between the market towns of Swaffham and Dereham. This lovely location, dominated by its impressive Norman church boasting a beautiful carved oak communion table dating back to 1086 and a wonderful Jacobean pulpit, is home to a welcoming pub with restaurant, a village store with butchers and a post office. The fine Georgian house of Bradenham Hall is close by and with over 27 acres of beautiful gardens and a spectacular arboretum - apparently visited by the famous Lord Nelson – is well worth a visit, as is the infamous Peddars Way. The Norfolk Coastal Path is a 93 mile trail through the picturesque Norfolk countryside - great for walking, cycling and horse riding.
