Wisteria House
About the home
Situated at the quieter end of the High Street and within the conservation area with views of the church, Wisteria House is a 19th century Cotswold stone property with parts of the building believed to be much older. It has been sympathetically extended to offer spacious, comfortable and very well-equipped accommodation, just a stone’s throw from Bourton’s much loved village green and River Windrush. Every care has been taken to provide a very good standard of modern convenience whilst retaining period charm in this lovely location.
As well as being a popular destination in its own right with Birdland and the Motor Museum amongst the attractions on offer, Bourton-on-the-Water is an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds and Shakespeare country. Oxford, Cheltenham Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick are all within an easy drive. Bourton boasts an excellent range of local amenities with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants within 200 yards.

The Central England / Cotswolds / Cheltenham / Gloucester region

This area of outstanding natural beauty with mild climate and fertile soil, gently rolling hills and glorious gardens is made even more entrancing by the honey-coloured, gently weathered Cotswold stone buildings.
The countryside is complimented by a wealth of tourist attractions, places to visit, enticing shops particularly gift, craft, home interior, speciality, and antique shops plus olde worlde tea shops, fine restaurants and cosy traditional inns with roaring fires.
The Bourton on the Water area
Bourton-on-the-Water, one of the most famous and prettiest villages of the Cotswolds, is located at the hub of the area so is an ideal base from which to explore.
Known as "The Venice of the Cotswolds" it is the only one of the six famous Cotswold villages (Bourton-on-the-water, Broadway, Burford, Chipping Campden, Moreton-in-Marsh and Stow-on-the-Wold) to have a river meandering through the main street. This is criss-crossed by small footbridges and populated by wildfowl.
On all sides are charming Cotswold buildings of honey-coloured stone, mellowed by age and softened by foliage. The centuries roll back and it is easy to envisage the appearance of an English village in a bygone era. Places of interest in Bourton include Birdland, the Motor and Toy Museum, the Perfumery, the Model Village and the Dragonfly Maze.
Bourton-on-the-Water is an ideal base for exploring the Cotswolds and Shakespeare country. Oxford, Cheltenham Stratford-upon-Avon and Warwick are all within an easy drive. Bourton boasts an excellent range of local amenities with a good selection of shops, pubs and restaurants within 200 yards.

Wisteria House was a get away dream come true. The property is stunning, spacious, so well equipped, comfy, cozy and light. The location is incredible as you are a 1 minute walk from all the towns' centres amenities, fantastic pubs and restaurants and there is so much to do on your door step with the shops, walks, museum, market, maze and Bird Park. However you are at the end of the town so it is nice a quiet and avoids any night time passers by. This is an ideal property for all ages and it was incredibly hard to leave. It is value for money and we will be back as soon as we can. |

Our family really enjoyed our stay in Bourton in Wisteria house. The house more than lived up to our expectations and was spotlessly clean and very well equiped. What particularly worked well for us was the two sitting rooms with tv in both as we were a family of five. There is tons to do in the area and local ammenities are excellent. We would highly reccommend this holiday home. The King family, Dublin, Ireland |

"Only one word to describe it "perfect". Perfect house and perfect village. Tranquil place with a lovely river and delightful ducks to feed. Found good food shops in Stow, excellent butcher and deli. Thank you for letting us use the herbs from the garden. We appreciate all the time and effort that has gone into making the cottage so comfortable. Would love to return" 3rd October 2009
