About this location

The Centre region

The Val de Cher is famous for the chateaux - lovely castles built from the local white stone in our village Bourre. Visit Chenonceaux just along the river, also Chambord, Amboise, Azay le Rideau, Villandry and many more lovely historic buildings.

Our region is also famous for the wines, sauvignon, gamay and carbernet franc. The most famous local wine is Vouvray made from Chenin Blanc. We are only two hours by Autoroute from Sancerre.

This is an all the year round location. Summers are hot (around 25-30) and winters cold (can be below zero - but enjoy our log fire and the local cheese and wine).

Montrichard is a busy little market town with all the facilities you require, a market on Fridays, good restaurants and good supermarkets.

Bourre is a small village with a bar, butcher, grocer and baker and a pharmacy. We are almost on the river and you will enjoy walks along the tow path as well as walks in the woods of Montrichard which are close by.

"Beautifully peaceful"

I stayed at the Maison Requin with my husband. It was the peaceful location we hoped for. The house is very clean and has a lovely atmosphere. We did not want for anything. Lots of plus points such as a speedy internet connection, really decent shower and the comfy bed. The location is great for exploring the Loire valley and it's a very short walk for croissants in the morn. The nearby mushroom caves are definitely worth a visit. I recommend staying there and Ann, the owner, gives plenty of helpful information about how to make the most of a stay there.

Thank you we are delighted that you have so enjoyed your stay in our lovely cottage; thanks must go also to Catherine our lovely neighbour who is on hand to help and prepares the cottage for our guests

"As Described Only Better"

Clean, warm, well equipped, quiet gite with good views across river Cher. Excellent position for visiting various chateaux of the Loire, particularly the more well known ones. The owner was very qui… More

Many thanks we are so pleased you have enjoyed your stay in our lovely cottage. It is a great 'away from it all' location with wonderful views across the valley, yet close to the chateaux ad other Loire Valley delights. We are grateful to Catherine who looks after our cottage and is so lovely with our guests. Ann

"A very nice place"

The house was very clean and well equipped the only slight problem was with the access road which is rather narrow.… More

This is a really nice cottage for two people and provides a lovely south facing balcony with views across the valley. The road is narrow but we can access with our Ford Galaxy which is quite large - the benefit is that it is extremely quiet and away from it all.
