The Dorset region

Dorset is an area of outstanding natural beauty, with miles of unspoilt countryside, towering cliffs and sandy beaches. Surrounding Bournemouth there is a wealth of natural and historical heritage to explore - gardens, castles, historic houses, the enchanting New Forest and the Jurassic Coast, a mind blowing 185 million years of the earth's history in 95 miles of spectacular coastline.

With seven miles of golden sands and sparkling sea, the vibrant cosmopolitan town of Bournemouth has it all – a vast array of shops and boutiques, fine restaurants, buzzing nightlife and endless countryside with beautiful gardens and water sports galore. It is an ideal all year-round resort with plenty to keep visitors entertained during each season.

No less than eight beaches along the Bournemouth and Poole coastline have been awarded Blue Flag status for having litter-free sands and clean swimming waters, making this the perfect destination for a traditional family 'bucket and spade' holiday.

Bournemouth

As well as the entertainment on offer in its theatres and cinemas, Bournemouth is also on the tour circuit for many top bands and international DJ's and with a late night capacity of over 20,000, its numerous clubs, bars and live entertainment venues cater for every musical taste. Just a short walk from the apartment, the O2 Academy plays host to many well known names.

Bournemouth is a renowned centre for conferences, special events and exhibitions, giving it an international quality over and above many other UK resorts. The Bournemouth International Centre is the venue for a range of major conferences and entertainment events throughout the year.

SURROUNDING AREA

The New Forest Is the ideal place to explore on foot, by bicycle, on horseback or by car. There are many circular footpaths and miles of traffic free cycle tracks where visitors can enjoy seeing the vast array of wildlife and the famous New Forest ponies roaming freely throughout the forest. There are dozens of events throughout the year including Dawn Chorus Walks, Deer Watches and Bat Walks and many other guided walks where local experts will tell you about the history, geology, wildlife and folklore of the forest.

Nearby Christchurch just 3.5 miles to the east sits on the shores of its own harbour and is renowned for its fascinating heritage, intriguing history and in particular its magnificent 11th century Priory Church. It has a wealth of accessible, attractive and safe nature reserves and other wildlife areas, with open heathland, ancient wildflower and wet meadows and cliff-top woods. There are 10 Sites of Special Scientific Interest and four local nature reserves. The waters around Christchurch are renowned for providing some of the best all round fishing in the country and the many fabulous restaurants in the area often feature locally caught fish on their menus. Of course no visit to the area would be complete without a visit to Hengistbury Head and Mudeford Spit to see for yourself the brightly painted beach huts which exchange hands for over £200,000!

To the west of Bournemouth lies the small Sandbanks peninsula, which contains some of the most expensive houses and land in the country. The Sandbanks Chain Ferry shuttles cars and foot passengers between Sandbanks and Studland and the Purbecks beyond.

Brownsea Island in Poole's stunning natural harbour is the home of one of the few remaining colonies of red squirrels in England and was host to the a BBC Autumnwatch programme. The island is also famous for being the birthplace of Scouting and Guiding and was the inspiration for 'Whispering Island' in Enid Blyton's Five Have a Mystery to Solve.

The Isle of Wight has much to keep visitors of all ages busy, with half of its area designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty and over 60 places to visit. As well as the network of footpaths that stretch over 500 miles, there are fun parks with thrilling rides, animal and bird sanctuaries, dinosaur and maritime museums, Roman villas, medieval castles and historic houses, including Queen Victoria's favourite seaside home, Osborne House. The Isle of Wight is easily reached by ferry crossing from nearby Lymington or on an organised trip from Bournemouth.

FURTHER AFIELD

For visitors new to the area and wanting to explore further afield, historic Stonehenge, Winchester and Portsmouth are easy day trips from the apartment.

"Excellently presented, convenient but quiet location, ample parking."

We found the apartment to be well presented with designated parking close to the flat for 2 cars. The bedrooms are large and with all linen and beds made and the ensuite and guest bathrooms follow suit and are well stocked with towels. The flat is excellently located for both Boscombe's town shopping and the beach. Thanks Julia, 10/10

"Luxurious Apartment - cannot be beaten!"

This is the best apartment we have ever rented. The owner, Julia, is extremely helpful and makes the booking process very easy, with fantastic communication. Absolutely everything you could possibly need is provided and you are made very welcome with the provision of tea, coffee, etc and even a bottle of wine on arrival! Thank you Julia. The apartment is exceptionally clean and bright and is exactly as pictured. Reassuring to be able to see the car in the parking bay from the window. Extremely quiet both day and night. The apartment is easily within walking distance of all amenities, beach 5 mins down a slight hill and town/shops only 5 mins in the opposite direction. We used the car to visit the New Forest, Sandbanks (lovely beach and good crazy golf), Poole, Tuckton Tea Gardens (we took out a motor boat on the river and again played crazy golf), Christchurch Quay, Lulworth Cove and Durdle Door. All well worth visiting. We would highly recommend this apartment and we are hoping to book again soon.

"A great place in a great location."

We throughly enjoyed our stay here. The flat is well equipped and not just the kitchen. It has everything you could need for a rainy day in, numerous dvds and games as well as having all the kit for a day on the beach. The location is great only a stones throw from the beach and local shops and cafes! The recommendations book is a great idea with some useful suggestions of things to do in the area. Altogether a great place.

The apartment is well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen, its tastefully decorated and nicely furnished with very comfortable beds, this is our 2nd stay at the apartment and we will definitely return, The apartment is ideal for families as it is on the ground floor and is a 5 minute walk to the beach.

"Perfect location, gorgeous apartment, family friendly"

We had an amazing week in this apartment. Everything we needed for our two young children was contained within the apartment so we didn't need to bring a car-full of stuff. Cot, high chair, toys, beach toys, baby monitor, nightlight, baby bowls and spoons etc were all available. The location is great, nice and quiet but close enough to the seafront, yet still walking distance to Boscombe town centre. If we ever come back to the area, we will definitely stay here again and will recommend to any friends who are heading to the area on holiday. You won't regret booking this apartment.

"A perfect stay in a lovely apartment"

Just returned from a weeks stay with my husband and 2 children (2 & 6). This is one of the nicest accommodation we have stayed in. A perfect welcome when we arrived with wine, biscuits, milk in the fridge, tea, coffee, sugar left for us. A lovely clean, fresh and modern apartment with lovely homely touches. The children loved their room and especially the cupboards filled with lots of toys and board games. Beach towels, blankets, windbreaker to use on the beach were also in the apartment - even bodyboards for the kids to use!Everything really has been thought of to make a stay at this apartment so wonderful. If we ever return to this area, then we will definitely be booking this apartment again.

"Apartment was perfect, modern, light and well equipped."

The apartment was spacious, well furnished and clean, just perfect for our needs. It was exceptionally well equipped with lots of DVD’s, games for the children and even beach equipment. Property was well located as only a short distance from Boscombe pier and beach. Also was very close to the high street which had supermarkets and shops. Booking was easy and all communication was prompt. Hope to stay again.

"First Class holiday"

'Wow', was our first impression on enetering the flat for the first time. Spacious, spotlessly clean and everything provided. The six foot bed added a touch of real luxury. Within a few minutes walk, we had shops to the right and beach to the left. We wanted for nothing and had a wonderful holiday. Will definately book again, in fact, we have!
