At the end of the road you will find miles of safe, sandy beaches at Fisherman's Walk with its Victorian cliff lift lowering to the glistening waters below, an ideal beach location for those coastal lovers.

A slightly longer walk will lead you to Boscombe which is the UK's most innovative seafront attraction. The Overstrand beach front complex, designed in 1958, has been transformed into a year-round leisure facility catering to water sports enthusiasts in the winter and traditional beach visitors in the summer.

If all that is not enough for you, or you want to extend your stay, you can jump in the car and within easy reach of the property is the town centre of Bournemouth for a wide variety of family entertainment, with traditional seaside attractions and of course the English favourite 'fish and chips'. The Dorset region

Dorset is a very popular holiday destination all year round. It offers beautiful rolling countryside, dramatic scenery, charming market towns, character villages and miles of some of the finest sandy beaches in the UK.

Bournemouth lies to the east of the county and offers seven miles of blue flag beaches. It is near the market town of Christchurch with its 11th century Priory Church, ruined castle and Saxon mill, and the stunning medieval New Forest.

The area caters for diverse interests – the popular buzzing beach resort in Bournemouth with its vibrant nightlife; the gentler pursuits of walking, wildlife and bird-watching in the nature reserves and national parks, and along the 20 miles of Bournemouth Coast footpath; and active pursuits such as cycling, sailing, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and sea kayaking. Popular also for touring, Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Salisbury and Stonehenge are all within reasonable travelling distance.

Dorset features some excellent museums, with world leading centres at Bovington (The Tank Museum, telling the history of military vehicles), and the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. Other museums include the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester, The Red House in Christchurch, the Royal Signals Museum at Blandford, and the award winning Brewers Quay in Weymouth. Many smaller towns have their own local museums.

Bournemouth

Southbourne-On-Sea is a suburb of Bournemouth. It is the most easterly part of the borough, between Boscombe and Christchurch, and provides a more peaceful holiday location away from the busier tourist areas. The resort has superb sandy beaches, safe bathing and a very popular children's play park on the cliff top, fabulous views sweeping from the Isle of Wight across Poole Bay to the Isle of Purbeck, a shopping centre, pubs, cafes and restaurants.

One tourist feature is the Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway, a funicular service between the clifftop coastal road and the promenade and beach. The main area of Southbourne-On-Sea is Southbourne Grove, a long shopping street that has some unique and individual shops rather than high street chains.

Further east are Warren Edge and Solent beaches which are sandy and partially stony. The easternmost part is called Hengistbury Head, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), popular for walking and bird spotting and includes rare plant species. The top of the headland provides beautiful panoramic views of Christchurch Harbour, The Needles on the Isle of Wight and Bournemouth. There is a golf course and open ground popular with kite flyers. A land train runs from the Hiker cafe across Hengistbury Head to Mudeford Spit with its exclusive beach huts. From here, there are passenger ferries to Mudeford and Christchurch.
