Grand Avenue FM87
About the home
'Grand Escape' is a fabulous property which has been beautifully refurbished to a very high standard. Ideally placed above the stunning sandy beaches of Southbourne-on-Sea, along a beautiful tree lined road, this property stands out from it's contempories. The property is close to the comprehensive shopping areas of both Southbourne and Boscombe with their many cafes and bars. For those that want more than just sand castles there is nearby Fisherman's Walk which was the final stretch of an ancient route taken by villagers of Holdenhurst to reach the sea for fishing. As Southbourne started being developed in the early twentieth century, this strip of land was preserved in 1913 as a park for the enjoyment of residents. It has also become the refuge for wildlife which adds to its attraction. The nearby Priory market town of Christchurch offers some fabulous river walks and boat trips as well as the opportunity to indulge in a cream tea. The cosmopolitan centre of Bournemouth lies just a short distance away with a plethora of shopping, dining and entertainment facilities. An excellent choice.

Dorset is a very popular holiday destination all year round. It offers beautiful rolling countryside and the Purbecks. Bournemouth with its award winning beaches and The New Forest nearby. Southampton, Salisbury and Stonehenge are all within reasonable travelling distance. Bournemouth has excellent facilities for the tourists and the town and has a lovely calm multi-racial community.
Dorset features some excellent museums, with world leading centres at Bovington (The Tank Museum, telling the history of military vehicles), and the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. Other museums include the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester, The Red House in Christchurch, the Royal Signals Museum at Blandford, and the award winning Brewers Quay in Weymouth. Many smaller towns have their own local museums.
The Bournemouth / Southbourne area
Southbourne-On-Sea is a suburb of Bournemouth. It is the most easterly part of the borough, between Boscombe and Christchurch, and provides a more peaceful holiday location away from the busier tourist areas. The resort has superb sandy beaches, safe bathing and a very popular children's play park on the cliff top, fabulous views sweeping from the Isle of Wight across Poole Bay to the Isle of Purbeck, a shopping centre, pubs, cafes and restaurants. One tourist feature is the Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway, a funicular service between the clifftop coastal road and the promenade and beach. The main area of Southbourne-On-Sea is Southbourne Grove, a long shopping street that has some unique and individual shops rather than high street chains.
Further east are Warren Edge and Solent beaches which are sandy and partially stony. The easternmost part is called Hengistbury Head, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), popular for walking and bird spotting and includes rare plant species. The top of the headland provides beautiful panoramic views of Christchurch Harbour, The Needles on the Isle of Wight and Bournemouth. There is a golf course and open ground popular with kite flyers. A land train runs from the Hiker cafe across Hengistbury Head to Mudeford Spit with its exclusive beach huts. From here, there are passenger ferries to Mudeford and Christchurch.
