Grange Road HB4260
House | 3 bedrooms | sleeps 6
This newly refurbished coastal house, boasting sea views, is situated in Southbourne-on-Sea, which is a suburb of Bournemouth. It is the most easterly part of the borough, between Boscombe and Christchurch, whilst still being a distinct seaside resort suburb within Bournemouth. The resort has superb sandy beaches, a very popular children's play park on the cliff top, cafes, fabulous views sweeping from the Isle of Wight across Poole Bay to the Isle of Purbeck, a shopping centre, pubs and restaurants.
The main area of Southbourne-on-Sea is Southbourne Grove, a long shopping street that has some unique and individual shops rather than high street chain shops. Shops include a butcher, a bakery, numerous cafés, hairdressers, convenience stores, homewares, gift shops and the post office. Further along towards Hengistbury Head is Southbourne Crossroads. At this crossroads are a surf shop, a café, restaurants, hairdressers and news agent. For activity in the local area Seafield Gardens, which has held the prestigious Green Flag Award since 2001, offers bowls, tennis and features a water tower.
One tourist feature of Southbourne is the Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway, a funicular railway between the cliff top coastal road and the promenade and beach. This provides very easy access to Southbourne's Blue Flag beach, from which it is possible to reach the beaches at Boscombe and Bournemouth, within just a few moments.

The West Country region
Dorset is a very popular holiday destination all year round. It offers beautiful rolling countryside, dramatic scenery, charming market towns, character villages and miles of some of the finest sandy beaches in the UK.
Bourmemouth lies to the east of the country and offers seven miles of blue flag beaches. It is near the market town of Christchurch with its 11th century Priory Church, ruined castle and Saxon mill, and the stunning medieval New Forest.
The area caters for diverse interests – the popular buzzing beach resort in Bournemouth with its vibrant nightlife; the gentler pursuits of walking, wildlife and bird-watching in the nature reserves and national parks, and along the 20 miles of Bournemouth Coast footpath; and active pursuits such as cycling, sailing, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and sea kayaking. Popular also for touring, Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Salisbury and Stonehenge are all within reasonable travelling distance.
Dorset features some excellent museums, with world leading centres at Bovington (The Tank Museum, telling the history of military vehicles), and the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. Other museums include the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester, The Red House in Christchurch, the Royal Signals Museum at Blandford, and the award winning Brewers Quay in Weymouth. Many smaller towns have their own local museums.
Southbourne-On-Sea is a suburb of Bournemouth. It is the most easterly part of the borough, between Boscombe and Christchurch, and provides a more peaceful holiday location away from the busier tourist areas. The resort has superb sandy beaches, safe bathing and a very popular children's play park on the cliff top, fabulous views sweeping from the Isle of Wight across Poole Bay to the Isle of Purbeck, a shopping centre, pubs, cafes and restaurants. One tourist feature is the Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway, a funicular service between the clifftop coastal road and the promenade and beach. The main area of Southbourne-On-Sea is Southbourne Grove, a long shopping street that has some unique and individual shops rather than high street chains.
Further east are Warren Edge and Solent beaches which are sandy and partially stony. The easternmost part is called Hengistbury Head, a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI), popular for walking and bird spotting and includes rare plant species. The top of the headland provides beautiful panoramic views of Christchurch Harbour, The Needles on the Isle of Wight and Bournemouth. There is a golf course and open ground popular with kite flyers. A land train runs from the Hiker cafe across Hengistbury Head to Mudeford Spit with its exclusive beach huts. From here, there are passenger ferries to Mudeford and Christchurch.

"Good location poor hospitality"
In June 2012 I stayed at the above mentioned property. Upon my arrival I was surprised to find that the beds were not made. I had not been informed of this beforehand. Considering the cost of the property I was very surprised this service had not been provided.
In addition, there was no folder in the house with basic information such as how to use the boiler, dish washer, stove, etc. This was very inconvenient especially when trying to use the stove top.
I was also very surprised to find that a large door and a large frame to a shower had been left in the backgarden making it very unsafe for my children to play back there. These things were removed; however, this wasted time from my holiday weekend and was quite inconvenient.
There was a loud beeping noise in the property. A man was sent to fix it and had to remove the smoke alarm. Again, this was precious time wasted.
It was disappointing that both toilet seats were not fitted properly and slipped off the toilet while sitting on them.
My family and I regularly rent properties and by far this has been the most disappointing experience.
Upon my arrival home I called the rental company to share my concerns. The woman I spoke to was very defensive and I did not find her helpful at all. To date I have had no acknowledgement of my complaints despite a further email to the company. I sent the email at their request. Very disappointing.
Thank you for your feedback. Bournecoast have been family run since 1960 and in that time have been responsible for over 260,000 visitors to our properties - many of whom return time and again. On the odd occasion there may be a problem which we will rectify as soon as we are made aware of the situation.
