The West Country region

Dorset is famous for the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, which features landforms such as Lulworth Cove, the Isle of Portland, Chesil Beach and Durdle Door, as well as the holiday resorts of Bournemouth, Poole, Weymouth, Swanage, and Lyme Regis. Dorset is the principal setting of the novels of Thomas Hardy, who was born near Dorchester.

The county has a long history of human settlement and some notable archaeology, including the hill forts of Maiden Castle and Hod Hill. Bournemouth lies in the heart of Dorset on the south coast.

Bournemouth is a “shoppers paradise” with most of the town centre being pedestrianised and offering shops, boutiques, beauty salons, restaurants, cafes and coffee shops, perfect for some well deserved retail therapy. In the evening there is a real buzz in Bournemouth, the town is renowned for being a stylish evening out with over 250 restaurants to chose from, and if its a cocktail or a glass of wine and some dancing you are in the mood for then you truly are spoilt for choice -there's a whole host of bars, nightclubs, pubs and wine bars on offer.

The breathtaking Dorset coastline offers everything from picturesque harbours, long sandy beaches, dramatic cliff top formations, hidden coves and rock pools.

The Jurassic Coast is England's only natural World Heritage Site, and is a walker’s paradise. Of equal appeal to the walker is the New Forest, England's newest National Park, but steeped in history.

Poole Harbour is a stunning location for all types of watersport. The harbour and it's islands offer a haven for wildlife including the bird sanctuary on the world renowned Brownsea Island.

Bournemouth

Southbourne is a suburb of Bournemouth situated on the cliffs between Boscombe and Christchurch and is a peaceful holiday location located away from the hustle and bustle of Bournemouth The location provides easy access into Bournemouth Town Centre either by car or bus.The Southbourne Cliff tops have a very popular children's play park and fabulous views sweeping from the Isle of Wight across Poole Bay to the Isle of Purbeck and there are several Pubs, Restaurants and Cafes offering outdoor seating for you to watch the sunset. The “zig zag” paths lead down to the beautiful sandy bathing beaches perfect for sun bathing, swimming or dog walking. The beach runs from Hengistbury Head just to the east, all the way past Bournemouth to Sandbanks in the west, with a path / cycleway running all the way along the shore-front

.

Southbourne Grove, the main area of Southbourne, has a long shopping street that has some unique and individual shops rather than high street chain shops. Shops include a butcher, a bakery, numerous cafés, hairdressers, convenience stores, home wares, gift shops and the post office.

Just a mile to the east Christchurch has a great choice of restaurants, centred around it's historic Priory church.

One tourist feature of Southbourne is the Fisherman's Walk Cliff Railway, a funicular railway between the cliff-top coastal road and the promenade and beach. This provides very easy access to Southbourne's Blue Flag beach, from which it is possible to reach the beaches at Boscombe and Bournemouth.

At Hengistbury Head there is a golf course, and nature walks and kite flying is a very popular activity with championship flying all year round. A leisurely walk or a trip on the land train will bring you to Mudeford Beach huts where you can get the passenger boat ferry across to Mudeford where there are family holiday attractions and facilities.

This really is a fabulous holiday location with plenty to do.

"Very poor"

I recently stayed in this annex with my partner for a weekend getaway. We booked for three nights, but left after just two. When we arrived, the landlord's young son greeted us, they said they wou… More

I am very sorry that the apartment did not meet your expectations. We take customer comments very seriously and can assure you that we did all we could to make your stay an enjoyable one, including bringing down toiletries and so on as requested and helping to lease with the landlord regarding your complaint wherever possible. I can confirm that since your stay the landlord has replaced the double bed in the bedroom and has addressed various small issues within the apartment off the back of your complaint. Unfortunately the giving out of compensation lies solely in the hands of the landlord as explained previously. I was shocked to hear your comments regarding Grand Avenue as it is one of our most popular holiday homes and we have never had any complaints before yours however we do try and ensure all our guests have an enjoyable time and can only apologise that you felt your stay was less than satisfactory. We do hope you will visit Bournemouth again.

"Clean, comfortable and excellent value for money"

Great value for money, this flat is very reasonably priced. Property is well maintained with a modern kitchen and bathroom, flat screen TV and a comfortable bedroom.

Plenty of free parking on the road. I stayed there for business but property is just a short walk from the sea-front so would be nice to stay there for a weekend break.

"Surf and good times"

Excellent little pad for trips away. My girlfriend and I needed to escape from London for a long weekend and this certainly made our break most enjoyable. The interior is all brand new and the fittings are modern.
The property is moments away from the beach and local shops and restaurants.
Really enjoyed my stay here!

Thank you for your review. We are delighted that you enjoyed your stay at The Grand Avenue Holiday Apartment and hope to see you again next year.

Best wishes from everyone at Churchfield Holiday Lettings :)
