The West Country region
Dorset is a very popular holiday destination all year round. It offers beautiful rolling countryside and the Purbecks. Bournemouth with its award winning beaches and The New Forest nearby. Southampton, Salisbury and Stonehenge are all within reasonable travelling distance. Bournemouth has excellent facilities for the tourists and the town and has a lovely calm multi-racial community.
Dorset features some excellent museums, with world leading centres at Bovington (The Tank Museum, telling the history of military vehicles), and the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. Other museums include the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester, The Red House in Christchurch, the Royal Signals Museum at Blandford, and the award winning Brewers Quay in Weymouth. Many smaller towns have their own local museums
This is the place to stay if you want to be in the hustle and bustle and be walking distance to all the main attractions. The town centre offers beautiful sandy beaches which have facilities to provide safe holidays for children, wonderful parkland and world famous gardens, big name shops and stores, theatres, cinemas, clubs and nightlife, cafes, restaurants, pubs and amusements - fish and chips too! The Pavilion and Bournemouth Pier Theatre throw some of the most popular shows, and of course there is the exciting Christmas Pantomime and New Year festivities, highlighting that Bournemouth is an all year round centre of excitement.
Lansdowne is just a short walk from the East Cliff Beach and Bournemouth's local attractions, theatres, restaurants and coffee shops. It is also and a short distance to the main travel exchange and Bournemouth station (approx 5 - 10 mins walking distance).

Nice clean modern apartment within 1 mile walk of town and less than half-a-mile walk to the beach. Buses into Bournemouth and Christcurch every few minutes with a bus stop outside the flat. Windows and curtains are good enough to keep out the road noise. Mattresses aren't great quality but are clean and OK for one week. Only one pillow per person provided. Allow time on arrival to fit your sheets, duvet covers and pillow cases as they are presented to you in a big bag!
Bournemouth itself has plenty to keep adults and kids enterained for a whole week if not longer. We went on day trips to Poole, Swanage and Christchurch. Sandbanks Ferry is a must do for only £3.50 per car, also the Breezer bus # 50 from Bournemouth railway station (close to the flat) takes you over on the ferry to Swanage for £18 for a family of 5. Asda is closest supermarket by the railway station.
