Dorset is a very popular holiday destination all year round. It offers beautiful rolling countryside, dramatic scenery, charming market towns, character villages and miles of some of the finest sandy beaches in the UK.
Bourmemouth lies to the east of the country and offers seven miles of blue flag beaches. It is near the market town of Christchurch with its 11th century Priory Church, ruined castle and Saxon mill, and the stunning medieval New Forest.
The area caters for diverse interests – the popular buzzing beach resort in Bournemouth with its vibrant nightlife; the gentler pursuits of walking, wildlife and bird-watching in the nature reserves and national parks, and along the 20 miles of Bournemouth Coast footpath; and active pursuits such as cycling, sailing, rowing, canoeing, windsurfing, kite-surfing and sea kayaking. Popular also for touring, Southampton, the Isle of Wight, Salisbury and Stonehenge are all within reasonable travelling distance.
Dorset features some excellent museums, with world leading centres at Bovington (The Tank Museum, telling the history of military vehicles), and the Russell Cotes Museum and Art Gallery in Bournemouth. Other museums include the Dorset County Museum in Dorchester, The Red House in Christchurch, the Royal Signals Museum at Blandford, and the award winning Brewers Quay in Weymouth. Many smaller towns have their own local museums.

The Bournemouth / Southbourne area

The property is within walking distance to the local Highcliffe beach which is renowned for its smuggling activities during the last century. Just along and above the beach lies the lovely Highcliffe Castle with tea rooms. There is a popular restaurant called the 'Cliff Hanger' with ample parking overlooking the beach. Highcliffe beach is part of the Christchurch Bay joining Mudeford Harbour where fresh fish can be purchased from the local trawlers. There is also a sea food restaurant and a local pub on the quay. As the coastline runs east there are many local interests. Keyhaven is a small harbour with the charming ferry to the lovely Hurst Castle guarding the entrance to the Solent. Lymington is a market town and there are many lovely pubs and cafes to choose from and the port offers the option of a day trip to the Isle of Wight by ferry. Christchurch boasts the historical priory and castle ruins along with many delightful riverside walks. The location of the property offers quick access by rail from London, Waterloo.

Christchurch is accessible from any part of Great Britain and most of Europe. There is continuous motorway or dual carriageway from London and along the South Coast and the A34 provides good access from the Midlands.

We have a good rail service and coach and bus service with South West Trains, Virgin Trains and National Express. Bournemouth Airport services routes from Glasgow and Belfast and a multitude of routes from international destinations with Ryanair, Thomsonfly and Jet2. Southampton Airport also has many domestic flight routes and a direct rail link from the airport to Bournemouth.

Ferries - The continental ferry ports are easily accessible from Bournemouth's neighbouring port of Poole (6 miles) or nearby Southampton and Portsmouth.
