The Aquitaine / Dordogne / Lot et Garonne region
The Lot et Garonne, a truly unspoilt area of South West France, offers something for everyone. It has a diversity of places and leisure activities for you to experience from Bastide towns to Swimming Lakes, Chateaux’s with vineyards to local markets. The Lot et Garonne is so diverse you will be able to create a truly unique holiday from which to discover the region.
The Bourlens / Labarde area
We are ideally located between the towns of Villeneuve-sur-Lot, Agen and Cahors, to explore one of the most unspoilt regions of France.
Our local village, Bourlens with its 11th century church and traditional narrow streets, is just a short walk away and the beautiful Bastide town of Tournon d’Agenais is just a little further. Here you will find an outstanding restaurant, a number of bars and some essential shops. The nearest supermarkets are in Fumel, a short 10 minutes drive away.
The Lot et Garonne remains one of the most beautiful untouched areas of Southern France where you can still enjoy the hot climate, breathtaking scenery and explore the real France away from the crowds whilst mingling with very welcoming locals.
Many popular wine growing areas are within easy reach of Labarde. Buzet, Bordeaux and Cahors are all relatively close by. The majority of our favourite vineyards are open for tours and tastings.
The nearby rivers are a great place to spend a day, whether you want to take a boat trip on the Lot around the medieval town of Cahors or relax in one of the many riverside restaurants.
There is such a diverse selection of towns, villages and activities that there really is something for everyone.

From Bergerac Airport
Leave Airport, turn left onto N21.
Follow N21 for about 35 miles through Castillones and Cancon towards Villeneuve-sur-Lot.
Close to Villeneuve cross straight over two roundabouts and the River Lot. At the next (third)
roundabout take the third exit onto the D661 signposted Penne, Dausse & Tournon.
Follow D661 for about 8 miles through Penne, straight over a small roundabout and through Dausse
until you can see the bastide town of Tournon d’Agenais on a hill in front of you.
Look for the C4 signposted for Bourlens on the left.
Take the C4, a narrow country road, for about ¾ mile and take the second Labarde sign on the right
directly opposite a bungalow also called Labarde.
From Junction 58 of Autoroute 20 (A20)
Leave the A20 at junction 58 ( Echangeur de Cahors Sud) and straight ahead onto a roundabout
signposted Cahors & Villeneuve s/Lot.
After 1.5 miles take the first exit off the roundabout onto the N20.
After 6 miles take the second exit off the roundabout onto the D653.
After about 18 miles turn right onto the D656 signposted for Tournon d’Agenais.
On reaching Tournon go straight over (2nd exit) the roundabout onto the D661 signposted for
Villeneuve-sur-Lot.
On leaving Tournon follow the D661 for about 1.5 miles, ignoring the sign for Bourlens just after you
leave Tournon.
Look for the C4 signposted for Bourlens on the right. Unfortunately this sign, which refers to
Bourlens’ 11th century church (église) is difficult to see from this direction

We travelled with our two children aged 7 and 3 along with family who stayed in the adjacent villa. La prairie surpassed our expectations on every level. The surroundings are stunning, there is so much space for two very energetic boys to play in and the owners are so welcoming to adults and children alike. Getting out and about is easy, there is a large and well stocked supermarket in nearby ferme and for those everyday fresh baguettes the boulangerie in Tournon is a bike ride away. The villa is very spacious and well equipped with added bonus of a gas BBQ. We travelled via euro tunnel and stayed overnight in Paris before making our onward journey to Bourlens, have to say the traffic made our journey down pretty hard going but believe it was just a busy weekend on the roads due to it being the main French get away weekend.... All in all we would highly recommend this holiday! We will be going back!! |
