The Black Sea Coast region
The Bulgarian Black Sea covers the entire eastern bound of Bulgaria stretching from the Romanian Black Sea Riviera in the north to European Turkey in the south, along 378 km of coastline. White and golden sandy beaches occupy the coast. The region is an important centre of tourism during the summer season (May-October). The area's average air temperature in the summer is about 28c, with the average water temperature at 25c.
The Yellow house is situated between Sredets & Burgas in a traditional Village called Konstantinovo. Burgas is set on the Black Sea and offers a number of beaches, fantastic shopping, bars and restaurants. Burgas is the forth largest city in Bulgaria. In Konstantinovo you can enjoy the peaceful tranquillity of village life or take a short bus or car ride into Burgas.
The Balkan Mountains cross the country reaching to the edge of the Black Sea at Cape Emine, dividing the coastline into a southern and northern part.. The southern coast is known for its wide sandy beaches.
The two main seaports on the Bulgarian Riviera are Varna (third largest in the country) and Burgas (fourth largest in the country). Varna is located on the northern part of the coast and Burgas is located on the southern coast. The two cities' international airports, Varna Airport and Burgas Airport, are the main hubs servicing the region. In addition, the A1 and A2 motorways, currently in construction, would make the trip from the capital Sofia to the coast substantially easier and faster, while the A3 is planned to connect Varna and Bourgas
Burgas (Bulgarian: БургаÑ, sometimes translated as Bourgas) is the second-largest city and seaside resort on the Bulgarian Black Sea Coast with population 210,260. It is also the fourth-largest by population in the country, after Sofia, Plovdiv and Varna. It is the capital of Burgas Province and an industrial and tourist centre. Surrounded by the coastal Burgas Lakes and located at the westernmost point of the Black Sea, the large Burgas Bay, Burgas has the largest and most important Bulgarian port.
Bourgas / Konstantinovo, Bourgas area
Nesebar is one of the most prominent tourist destinations and seaports on the Black Sea, in what has become a popular area with several large resorts. The largest, Sunny Beach, is situated immediately to the north of Nesebar. Nesebar has on several occasions found itself on the frontier of a threatened empire, and as such it is a town with a rich history.
The ancient part of the town is situated on a peninsula (previously an island) connected to the mainland by a narrow man-made isthmus. Its abundance of historic buildings prompted UNESCO to include Nesebar in its list of World Heritage Sites in 1983. Nessebar has 9 churches and fortified walls and a beautiful working fishing port. The small fishing boats bring in fresh fish for the local restaurants. The streets are cobbled with narrow walkways and small stone shops and houses. On the way to Nesebar there is also a fantastic water park which the whole family will enjoy. Nesebar is about 1 hours drive from the yellow house.
Sozopol is a ancient town and seaside resort located 15 km south of Bourgas on the southern Bulgarian Black Sea Coast, in Bulgaria. Today the town is mostly a seaside resort known for the Apollonia art and film festival (which takes place in early September) and is named after one of Sozopol's ancient names. The busiest times of the year are the summer months, ranging from May to September as tourists from around the world come to enjoy the weather, sandy beaches, history and culture, fusion cuisine (Bulgarian, Greek, Turkish), and atmosphere of the colourful resort.
The increasing popularity of the town has led to it being dubbed the Bulgarian St. Tropez, seeing stars like Ralph Fiennes, Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and Goldfrapp exploring its beauty and charm. Sozopol is a lovely place to visit it is approx 30 minute drive from the yellow house.
