About the home

Villa Kalovo is situated in the tiny traditional Bulgarian village of Kalovo, just 1 hour drive from Bourgas. It is reached by a single track through the forest.

It is a large, spacious 3/4 double bedroom villa situated over 4 floors and surrounded by the Strandzha National Park offering stuning and breathtaking views.

The Villa has its own private pool with sunloungers, gardens and a fantastic balcony for dining. From here you can watch the beautiful sunsets into the valley beyond or sit out with a glass of wine at night and view the amazing night sky.

There is no TV in Villa Kalovo but plenty of games to enjoy together. We are genuine when we say you will be situated within an oasis of peace and tranquillity for a unique holiday experience that will take your breath away.

While there are many cheaper Villas they will not match this location and overall experience.

Villa Kalovo is modern, clean and bright with all the amenities you would expect (but no TV). A spacious open plan living area and kitchen with large windows making it bright and sunny, which opens on to a large balcony with BBQ and dining table.

The living room has a working wood burner and two 2 seater sofas. Off the living area is the kitchen which is fully equipped with cooker, microwave, hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, toaster and coffee maker. On the same level is one of the bathrooms.

All Villa Kalovo's double bedrooms have views of the National Park. There is a “celebration room” where there are 2 single fold out beds suitable for children.

Villa Kalovo has secure private gardens, surround on all 4 sides by walls and fencing. The garage is situated within the grounds and reached by double gates, both can be locked.

Linen is provided and beds will be made on your arrival. A washing machine is available for guests to use.

The owners do not take responsibility for any of the guests' personal items or valuables that are lost or stolen during their stay.

A refundable breakage deposit of £250.00 will be required when booking.

The Black Sea Coast region

The Black Sea coast offers white sands and warm waters from June to September, plus a marvellous nature and hundreds of places of interest along the coast, ranging from old pagan sanctuaries to remains of ancient Roman and Greek civilisations.

The area is fringed by forests, vineyards and fields of sunflowers, peppered with numerous mineral springs providing a natural beauty.

The Bourgas / Kalovo area

Kalovo is situated in the heart of Strandzha Mountains and it's National Park. It is hilly, low-mountainous and very attractive. The Strandzha Natural Park includes protected areas and areas of preserved unique archaeology monuments. Two of the cleanest rivers also flow through – Velka River and Rezovska River.

The Village of Kalovo Is situated overlooking a valley and offers magnificent panoramic view towards the valley of the Mladejka River and the Central Strandja Mountain. The rural village comprises of old authentic wooden houses which are still inhabited. There are no English speaking inhabitants in the village, so you will experience a true Bulgarian holiday.

Kalovo offers a wide range of outdoor pursuits to suit your preferred pace., whether its bird watching, cycling, hill walking or hunting, you can do all with a backdrop of some of Bulgaria's wildest and most beautiful scenery, a reminder that there are still places to escape to.

Yet only 45 minutes from the Turkish Boarder.

Every year the village has a traditional celebration on or around the 9th August. The locals celebrate with traditional music, dancing and food outside the church on the village green. You really get to see the locals celebrate in the true Bulgarian style a totally unique experience that really is a must.

“Beautiful peaceful location, thoroughly recommend” Really nice house in a peaceful rural location. Very relaxing with a good pool and table tennis. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

“A great "chill out" villa in beautiful surroundings.” A very clean villa, with a good sized pool, lovely balcony for dining and well maintained gardens. Great for a "chill out" break with friends or family. If you're feeling energetic, table tennis and bikes are provided free of charge and there is a net you can stretch across the pool for water volley ball (great fun!) .The villa is on the edge of a small village called Kalovo and looked after by a local couple who do not speak any English, but are very friendly and enthusiastic so brush up on your Bulgarian and sign language! There is a very small shop in the village but has limited supplies, so don't forget to make a comprehensive list before going to the Supermarket as it is a fair journey if you've forgotten anything!

“Fantastic villa in a fantastic location” A thoroughly enjoyed holiday by all. The villa was fantastic and set within a beautiful countryside location. We would highly recommend the villa to anyone wanting to visit Bulgaria and believe it would appeal to a wide range of people. The villa is located in the traditional Bulgarian village of Kalovo, surrounded by beautiful scenery and a friendly local community. The villa is incredibly well looked after by a local couple; Evanka and Nicola, and although their English is limited they are a great asset ot the villa and we got along with them with them really well. They are kind, friendly and willing to help out whenever and wherever possible. The villa is ideally suited for those who want to get away from it all and have a relaxing and peaceful holiday. The villa is spacious, easily sleeping 6 to 8 people, and the gardens are large and well maintained with a good sized pool. For those who wish to be a little more adventurous and explore the surrounding country, a vehicle will be essential for travel. A wide range of varied destinations and tourist sites are easily and readily commutable e.g. the cities of Burgas, Nessebar and Sozopol. There's lots to do and see in these cities, and there are a wide range of restaurants. In addition, there's plenty to explore close by if you like to walk or cycle (Note: 2 bikes are provided). On arrival in Burgas, if at all possible, we recommend you stop at Billa supermarket on the way to the villa to stock up and get supplies. This is a large supermarket around 60 minutes drive from the villa and has everything you could ever need. Note: there are smaller shops and grocers closer to the villa, including a small shop in Kalovo, where you can get additional supplies e.g. bread and milk. We highly recommend this villa and enjoyed our stay so much that we are considering returning in the near future.
